I hesitate to even ask this question on here because people get all bent out of shape about questions concerning wipes. I don't need a dozen people reminding me that we are playing the beta, and that the devs can and will do wipes. I know that, and I understand that completely. But I also know that they've been kind enough to give us a heads up when they are planning to wipe. This new patch is going to have a character wipe, which we all know because they have told us so. What I can't get answered, and I've seen the question asked several times, is does anyone have any idea if they are only wiping characters? I just want to know if the base I've built on my multiplayer server I host will still be there. That's all I ask, I just want to know that one thing. If anyone knows and would be so kind as to clarify the extent of what is being wiped I would be extremely grateful. I thank you in advance for not crucifying me for daring to want to know.
Can't say for sure but my thought is that it will be more than just a character wipe, they said in one post that the next patch will be a big one. That being said Do you nox no wAt beta IS??? I beTA TEST You BETA TE......
I normally just plan for complete wipes. That way I have no expectations for anything to remain and begin each new stage/update from our clearly deranged Koala with a fresh clean slate. For this upcoming one, they've stated it should be the last character wipe, but I'm hoping they wipe it all as it looks to be a nice big juicy update! The way I see it- after this one you can keep your main character, but for each update consider playing with a new one, if it suits your fancy. I'm sure they will give us prior notice (CF has been pretty good about that so far) and at that time you can decide exactly what you want to do. I usually find that my builds just get better and better each update, as sometimes we get new stuff, and isn't that just part of the testing/growing process?

The way I see it, either characters are the only thing getting wiped, so anything I care dearly about would be safe inside my base to go get with a new character, or everything is getting wiped and I just need to suck it up (lol). Sooooo, I put all my dearest possessions I've acquired inside my base for now. If they are there after the update that's fantastic! I'll make a new character and go get them. If everything is gone, I'll moan and fret for a bit, make a new character and go on. I really hate losing stuff I like, lol, especially items I have little chance of ever getting again, like my legendary sword that I love with my space life. I told my husband I am possibly the worst beta tester ever. I dun wanna luze all meh stuffzzzzz! Whaaaaaa! My 7 year old daughter is taking the news of the wipe better than I am...that speaks volumes to me, but I am wha I am .
Just think, though, you should be able to find all those things again... and more!, and have fund doing it! I just found Cat Rimmed Glasses and a Pirate Coat. And... hope to find them again

I grow accomsted to wipes, its nice to disvoer new things with a new char, and if you liked your old one think about that you know how and what to do faster this time around^^ Im sure when the final is rlsed, we will have like an lineage, or genebank of all our played chars. And if permadeath is added like an optionen, tombstones
The thing that keeps making me is that I was lucky enough that a legendary sword dropped from a mini-boss and of all the swords in all the worlds this one is named Cthulhu, and I just happen to be a huge Lovecraft nut. What are the chances that I'll EVER get that sword again? I luv meh Cthulhu sword!
Oh same here, read his books, watched almpost every movie adaptions, played some games to, maybe its time for some lovecraft inspired mods..
Characters, universes, and ships are being completely wiped. This was confirmed numerous times. After the update characters will no longer need to be wiped, as a script will run after each update on your character. There is no news on whether or not there will be universe wipes in the future (after this update), but I presume there will be.
