I got a new laptop for Christmas and it has an updated graphics card, more RAM, more hard drive space, etc. than my old PC but Starbound is running a little slower on it. The game loads up a lot quicker, but overall performance was better on my old computer. Anyone know why this is? Is there any way I can make it run faster?

File doesn't want to attach, and I don't know how to make a spoiler.

first of all it would help if you posted your pc specs :)
even if you say they're good they might not be as good as you thought

They've been posted. See the pastebin link. Specs are fine. CPU is a little low-end.

oh sorry lol i don't normally click links anymore... ever since jeff the killer

Anyways I have a high dislike for AMD I doubt that's your issue I just can't say if that's the thing that's killing you
but I do agree the CPU is pretty weak

Like I said AMD confuses me but going on a limb I would say it's your CPU
for now you can disable the steam overlay and the run OpenGL version of the game and you SHOULD get less lag

It's just weird how my old laptop ran it better and had worse specs. I dunno.

Weird fact but most times the CPU is more important then the GPU and the RAM

My old PC also (7 years old) ran it much smoother than my old/new laptop that broke
Main reason? it had a faster CPU.

    EDIT:
Well actually in this case the CPU and RAM matter the most.
but it helps to have a semi good GPU with a large memory amount

Old machine has a slightly better CPU, new has a slightly better GPU. Otherwise, you essentially have the same computer you had before. :3

(But now I have a working CD drive and no broken hinge!)
It's still playable, I guess I'll have to tolerate the lag until they optimize it in whichever beta phase (I think 2).
    Thanks!
