New Lantern Items (Lantern & Lantern Stick)

I was initially making this thread to complain about how useless it was but before posting the original gif i created, a thought struck me. Perhaps i should try it in a wider area, seeing as this had become my main complaint with the new light source. It doesn't seem that bad really, a good alternative if you want an aoe light source as compared to the torch. But it's nowhere near as bright.



On a side note, has anyone found the "Lantern Stick" yet? I had to cheat another copy of my MK2 ship upgrade to unlock the new blueprints added to that list. New characters probably don't have any issues with this i imagine. So now that it's unlocked, im actually quite happy with it!

 

Let me put this straight: Lantern. Stick. Is. AWESOME.

Easy to make, lights things up easily. I love it!

 

Can't wait until we get the lambent orb upgrade to it though.

 

Best part is covering it up with another item in your social slot. Glowing whatever-you-want!

If your character was already T3 when the patch hit, you can just craft another Mk2 and use it to learn the new blueprint.

It's odd that Mk2 gives you the Lantern on a Stick blueprint, but you need Mk3 to make the crafting table required.

 

You can make it on the regular crafting table too.

 

I used to use more coal on torches than i was able to mine but now I can get enough. Lanternstick was a life saver. Thanks lantern stick! (this product not regulated by the FDA)

and here i was wasting tons and tons of coal during spelunking T___T
the small lantern is somewhat useless with the dim light it has ... but that lantern on a stick ... *runs off and boots up Starbound*

 

I love the new lantern on a stick, I just wish there were other more stylish options, possibly per race.

 

Lambent Orb, perhaps?

Using the lantern stick without a social back item to cover it up makes me feel like a kobold or a crazy old man living in a cave.

 

Wait, the backpack has a social slot? Im only now realising what you meant

 

Yeah. The mod has a lamp pack for every gear tier. I don't know why Tiy didn't integrate the full mod.
