If that's what you were aiming for, I can SOMEWHAT forgive you for adding it to the bottom. There is a far better way of doing so, but I won't mention it, because you're not an "artist".

Deliberately going against the style. Can't argue with that. Really.
If you were AIMING on mashing two styles together, to make look like it didn't belong in Starbound, the congratz. You succeeded.

Artist or not, you can still take advice into consideration for the next time you do things.

While I do like beards (extra cookies for assembling them, Zomgmeister ), it seems that it would be weird to have them in the current human sprites, now that I see it. For instance, in some of the styles, the moustache does resemble a mouth - but the thing is, putting the moustache one pixel up would make the hair 'touch' the eyes and bringing it down would make it seem out of place.

The way I see it, only goatees and styles with the moustache connecting to the beard itself would look nice.

Ah, and like it has been said, I also believe the colouring/shading of the beards could use some tweaking, to match Starbound's style a bit more (for example, an outline colour).
I know what you shared were suggestions, but that's just my view on the matter. ^^ Again, good working putting all of that together.

The good thing is that human sprite does not have a mouth, so it does not matter that much. Other than that, as I already mentioned before, it is better with other hair colors and, in second iteration, some better shading could be applied to moustache, making these two "mouth" pixels different from each other, as I actually did in the "Copstach Standard" (bottom row, fifth column from the left).

"No moustache facial hair types only" seems too apex-like. It is easy, yes, but blends a visual difference between two primate species too thin. Of course, some facial styles still could be scrapped, but, for example, "Fu Manchu", "Dali" and even "Handlebar"), while being moustache-only facial hair types, are definitely what they are: not mouths.

I thought about an outline colour, and in some beards I did used it in style of all other Starbound graphics, but deliberately decided to do it different in others. Anyway, it is not that hard to draw an outline to "Wizard" and "Old Dutch", who are most grave violators of style.

What thing? There isn't any "thing" to my knowledge, just an expression of opinions from very different viewpoints of two persons with completely different life experience. Again, I am not an artist, except in martial sense.

 

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, but I didn't mean facial hair types without moustaches. I meant facial hair styles where the moustache connects with the beard, full circle, as it passes on the right impression quite well, in my opinion. For example, the fifth guy on the first row/top guy on the fifth column.

Actually, you're quite correct there - Some of the styles that are moustaches only look quite nice. It still seems to me that the ones that look better, though, are the ones that go full circle. :alien:

Back on topic, I would love to attempt at doing at least one or two hairstyles, and I do like Florans a lot, but they seem to already have a preposterous amount of suggested hairstyles and I honestly don't have any ideas for them. Any suggestion on... suggestions???

No seriously, what I mean is: I'd like to draw some hairstyles, which race do you think has less custom hairstyles so far or do you have any relatively simple ideas you would like to see?
