Exaggerations aside, that'd just trade one legibility concern for another: The dots would either need more space between them or not line up, and for capitals they'd break the ascent, if that's the correct term. Which in turn would require layout changes to accommodate across the board. All because you allegedly can't see a ¨.
The font is the only way someone was able to contribute, nothing more would get done by not working on it. Overall this dev post gives off an antagonistic vibe, with so many hoping for news on a stable.

We had to change the font. Full stop. Legal reasons. 04b03 is freeware, but it's non-commercial freeware. We missed this for a few reasons. First, we were making our own font, hobo.ttf, back in late 2011; however, we were having some issues with the font utility and couldn't get our font to line up correctly. So a few of our artists went around and looked for fonts. They downloaded 04b03 from some random website, where it was labeled as freeware, but not as non-commercial. No one followed up because we were planning on making our own font anyway. Also it's in Japanese and google translate makes a bit of mess of it, so even if we had found it back then, I don't think it would have been recognized as a prohibition. I found out recently, randomly, when I was looking things up on the internet aimlessly in my spare time.
When it comes, it will be compared to what I tried from a year ago. I only read news and updates but didn't bother to try again until they push another stable release. Been a long wait, and I'm sure it will be some time still. Things are looking great for starbound, as expected.
i would suggest making fonts changable in the options and also add an option to pick the ship model so that you can play in the default ones or after creating the character pick an alternative like the dreadnought mods that are on the nexus(but of course you weold still need to upgrade them) when picking the ship you could see a gif with the ship level-ups when hovering the mouse above it. i think that it would add more veriety (also sorry if i misspelled sometinhg )
I seriously dont care about the Font Guys !!! I want the Update !!! I am pretty sure you can change a Font in a later update !!!
Forgive me for being off-topic, but Spanish does the same thing, cept AFAIK, there are no gender-neutral particles. Everything is "El" or "La" (Male/Female respectively), and I really don't know how they decided what gender each noun in the language is supposed to be, lol.
It's not about what you care about. It was a necessary change. And if they hadn't mentioned it in a news post then people would start complaining "WTF is with the new font?" in a disorganized fashion. This way people get informed earlier and then can complain afterwards in the appropriate thread.
@Unclever title, I would print out your post and frame it if this subforum wasn't a veritable bastion of disorganized inappropriateness anyway. Also I don't have a printer.
