So I had an idea. Later on in the game, at least for me, fishing is hardly even worth it. You make so little money from it that I'd rather go to sleep and have my crops grow faster in real life time than waste that time trying to squeeze every little bit of energy out of my character to make a couple thousand gold off fishing before the day is up. So when I read about a bug that used to (or may still, I didn't bother checking) exist that allowed you to catch The Legend fish multiple times, I thought, "that'd be a good way of making money off fishing". This gave me a cool idea. How about once you've caught all the legendary fish, not only do you get a stardrop from Willy, but you also receive a Master Angler's License (or something similarly named), that allowed you to go to a previously inaccessible area. This area would allow you to fish very expensive, very difficult fish. With a daily or maybe weekly respawn timer (individual and varying respawn timers for all the fish could be cool too). Being able to make somewhere in the ballpark of 10,000 gold a week would put it in line with my other money making methods (then again my farm isn't very big and I've not bothered working out the most optimal crops/animals to farm). With this addition, fishing (which is very fun in my opinion) could once again become a viable way of making money without feeling like I'm wasting my time.
I feel like the desert oasis was supposed to do something like that (the scorpion carp can be a b*tch to catch). Maybe if the special access was to that spot, with new and more difficult fish? Thing is, there's already lots of fish...if we had to catch sharks or whales or something, people would get really upset lol (kinda like how CA ditched the butcher option for raising animals).
That would be a pretty functional feature! I think that more goals should be implemented and this would be a perfect one for concerned ape to find digging through the Stardew community threads!
Fishing Derby would be cool, too. Something like that. I really, really dig fishing in video games for some reason, and I quite enjoy the mechanics in this one (well, I do now that I have gotten used to erratic nature of some of the fish).
