@Ambaaargh i tried to woo shane too and got to 5 hearts i think before i realized he didnt have a (single) status underneath his name. i was so annoyed. x.x @musical74 I agree, i think Emily is probably the oldest, your reasoning made a lot of sense, but it WOULD be cool to have like seasonal characters. he could potentially add a little hotel/inn something. i mean they have a spa. what small communities like this in the countryside do you know of, that has a spa just for the residents? id say its pretty rare and it would make a lot of sense to go along with that and make a little inn or something, those people could stay in. aaand i might check out your thread on why shane in a bit too xD im curious now. (also, noooothing wrong with being 42 and still liking games lmao.. pffhhh whippersnappers )
I gotta check that thread out cuz I'm with you there lmao. As for more candidates or whatever, there was some discussion earlier about guys vs girls and how we tend to date. Let me say this. Girls date older dudes probs because they think all the younger guys are immature idiots who can't take care of themselves. and they're right! but guys avoid older women cuz they think all the younger girls are idiots who need someone to take care of them. and they're also right!! Girls are looking for someone more experienced and reliable, and guys are looking for someone young and pretty to take advantage of. Sorry if it sounds cynical but it's not generally out of malice, it's just an instinct or subconscious thing. Our base desires are harsh and crude, just saying it like it is. Me, personally, I don't know about marriage, but I prefer to get intimate with older women. Jodi, Caroline and Robin for example. If they're married to a husband who's a good guy I'm still interested it's true but... Not cool tho On the other hand, if their husband is utter crap (neglectful, abusive, malicious, etc.) then I def. want to do something about it. Can't stand it when good women stay in relationships like that and just eat it. They're too good for those jerks! Which is why I'm glad that Clint is alone but also angry that Pierre is married to Caroline. You don't need a crowbar to pry those two apart so what's the deal?
ah yeah lol i do think divorces could be a good move for this game a lot of people have talked about the pierre/caroline couple, theyd probably end up splitting. and theyd both be single. which i think a lot of people would be quite happy about, for caroline but also for pierre
@ThitPoulsen , @Gabaw Why Shane?? is quite aways back - page 19! Amazing how many topics have happened since then... I was thinking about this: If a new person or people were to show up, where would they be, would everyone already know them, and (most importantly) how well would the farmer be able to react to the new person?
I can really only speak on my own experiences regarding Shane. My very first play I sort of bee-lined towards Sebastian because when I looked at all the portraits he looked the prettiest. So for a good part of my game I didn't really actually even talk to most of the villagers and would just sort of manifest from the bushes, hand them a coffee or parsnip and sink back down into the depths. So truth be my actual first real impression with shane was because I managed to hit his heart to heart event where I was like 'oh geez. ;A;" and I had initially planned to switch gears to him only to find out he wasn't actually romanceable. I ended up deleting my first playthrough with Sebastian because it was before the patch that actually gave more spouse dialogue and I just felt awful about Sebastian going on about giving up the motercycle and turning into a stepford wife who called me honey and made breakfasts and never left the farm. So I had switched to a new save to pursue harvey cause I figured at least he would go to work twice a week and leave the farm. So it wasn't until my second playthrough that I actually even really encountered Shane's low heart dialogue where he was like "nurrrr! Hsssss! Leave me alone! Can I pay you to stop talking to meeee!" but having the first playthrough of knowing where he was coming from made it so his angry little moth noises were not quite as stinging cause it made sense. I find my appeal for Shane sort of similar to my appeal to Penny. They both got a bit of a hard hand dealt to them in life but at the same time they are still going out and trying despite the wear down. Yeah Shane is a sea-urchin of bristles but at the same time I also realize he's not going out of his way to be mean to folks or even says bad things about others...his bristles are when I am the one poking at him so I can't really be too upset. It's why I usually just start new plays by giving him some coffee or pepper poppers twice a week without talking to him until he's at a high enough friendship level that he's not super annoyed.
@musical74 they could potentially be return-ees like having been moved away for a while and coming back or having been on vacation, or they could be new to everyone, no one says the new characters have to have been there before, it could be a situation where someone new joined and there could be chatter about it like there was before the player joined, and they could bring it up in daily dialog like rumors, and then after a little while theyd move in and everyone could get to know them where the player also wouldnt be a stranger, but would be part of the community so thats a new experience as well as we are currently the newest to join. itd be cool to have an event that made us "one of the townies" from someone elses perspective @Ambaaargh im not a big fan of sebastian even tho i like some parts of him, i steer more towards the female players or harvey. if i could change alex' clothes id be okay with him too but for now he looks like a high school jock and im not marrying that.
no I get it just a preference, I don't know hard to rate dialogue with maturity sometimes, in real life and in stories just because someone is having a problem that is minor doesn't mean they're automatically not speaking as an adult when they work out their issues. Though with Haley it's a little different, just her complaining about life being hard because the rain could mess up her hair, when Emily takes care of everything and she mentions how many skirts she has and her online shopping. That is completely immature now with Alex showing his insecurity because he realizes he's not very smart and says he's not going to give up that might seem like it's much to some but it really stands out for his jock character at least with me. That being said I understand, I was thinking that since the bathhouse doesn't get used that much...though I don't know how much work it would take, that we could still have it but it could be converted into a hotel for more portrait-less characters and new candidates maybe two or three that were older and were just coming to settle down in the valley or maybe add more trailers and put them next to it I don't know. I like the variety in the small selection but if CA adds to the group there are a few out of the way places that could take additions. At least they grow to be good spouses I usually don't have much to do because Seb repairs my fences and waters my crops all the time.
well that is also true, it can be hard to rate maturity based on the dialog you do get, and frankly id probably take them more seriously if they looked different. ive been trying to find good mods that changed their appearances to more adult-like looks cuz then at least i can fake that part and make it slightly more believable but there doesnt seem to be any that i like, they all seem to semi stick with what they originally were and just improving the appearance. i wish i could mod it myself x.x but i dont have that kind of graphical experience, mine is more texture based, i make skin textures for 3D avatars, but its not like drawing an actual face since and its not pixel art. but who knows i might give it a go if i can figure out how it works.
It kind of bugs me that apparently the mayor is the guy that picks up and sells the stuff you ship. Sure it's a small town and all, but eh. So there's a potential for another character I always thought, shipping-bin-person.
Well thats true, im not sure why the mayor would even be doing that and with all the responsebilities he seems to have, the poor man must never sleep
Meh I married Elliot and Harvey will be on my next save not too keen on the rest they seem a little young and I'm not really into them.
exactly my point xD Only reasons i cant go for elliott, is 1 i wear the same hair as him and i would feel so weird about it x.x 2nd hes way too damn fancy for me personally
