Hm, some of these choices are out of the player's age group. Also, some of them are already taking care of children. Shouldn't Sandy be on the list?
marrying shopkeepers is going to create annoying problems where the shops are closed more than they should ever be. especially in a small town like this. krobus, sandy, willy, and clint arent too bad cos most of the townsfolk dont typically shop there. but imagine not having pierre or gus in their shops when everyone gathers there.
I'm a big supporter of Emily as a candidate, personally. When I first started the game I met all the villagers and she was the one who stood out to me the most. Then I found out taken characters couldn't be married (obviously), so I got worried but then I found out she was single. Then I found out about Clint and got worried again, but every interaction with him seems very intentionally one-sided on his part, so I got my hopes up again. And then, after all of that, I find out that you just straight up can't marry her anyways. It was quite a big letdown.
Omg this idea is superb! It's like HM where you try to marry the Harvest Goddess and you'll need to fulfill several criteria before you can do so. KROBUS FTW! Edit: Oh but I would prefer Krobus to keep his original form somehow... I mean... that's what I love about him...her...it.
Because nothing says love like tying a being who has difficulty relating to humans to a human life. A life where they will probably outlive you- the reason they left everything they know behind- by several decades (if they can die at all). Time that would be spent isolated from both humans and their relatives due to no longer neatly fitting into either categoryz and further burdened by their grief over the loss of you, the memories they have of you fading but never disappearing, and the fact they chose this option for something like 60 years of happiness Vs. possibly hundreds of years of crippling loneliness and grief.
She mentions sometimes that she's taking online classes...so, yes. College/University. ^^ Honestly, the only one that seems YOUNG to be is Maru...it's the clothes in her sprite. However, she's working as a nurse so she must have at least SOME training (assuming that she needs it for the doctor's office, heh - a lot of them do these days). Alex mentions that he was a star player when he was in high school, so he's definitely out of it too, as CA said. Haley is just...REALLY shallow (at first), so that's why she's acting like that. ^^ In Sandy's case, it wouldn't hurt to just have her offer her stuff at your home as well (and go to her shop on Mondays...since you're basically the only visitor anyway =p). This could also give Emily more opportunities to visit her...and...OMG THREESOME TIME! (ok, not really, but yeah =p) In the case of Krobus, he could just offer the stuff wherever, since you're DEFINITELY the only one that goes to see him (minus a certain someone thanks to a cutscene). As for Clint and WIlly...they could just go to their shops every day, anyway. There's really no reason why they have to 'stay on the farm' and stop the work they were doing. The same is true for Emily. She could still work at the saloon (as a bartender, i'm guessing?) almost every night. She'd be one of the few that ends up staying out late. She might work LESS DAYS or something, maybe...but...yeah (she's not a shopkeep, mind you, but still). I just don't see why marrying them has to be a problem, when they can simply be set to still run their shop (though Pierre would be super awkward with Caroline still living in that place...... ).
Why not Sandy? I mean aside from her being a shop owner and marrying her would likely result in it closing. Edit: I see this was already brought up
Emily is a reasonable choice and the most likely. But reasonable is stupid. Sorry Emily, enjoy a lifetime with Clint. Sneak some iridium bars out for me. Maybe George dies of old age and you get to choose Evelyn. Maybe Kent dies in a military training accident - rip, now you get Jodi. GMILF and MILF covered. The Wizard also mentioned his ex-wife. Maybe she needs your "magic wand". These can all be reversed for other preferences. Come on, you can marry an Argonian in Skyrim. Why not a horse?
Lol. That Kent suggestion is what I suggested in the spoilers, actually (though my suggestion is that he dies before he gets back if you get her high enough before that happens and pick the right choice in a dialogue, and you find out on day 1 of year 2, instead of meeting him). =x Also...horse? Yeah, no bestiality plz. Sandy's shop is probably only ever visited by you. Having her marry you, she could still sell stuff out of your home or something...and...well...Emily can visit her! Maybe you can have a 3some! She could also still go to her shop on Mondays "to make sure everything is alright". Basically, she could leave the shop itself to someone from Q's casino, I bet. ^^ Maybe the bouncer!
Why not divorcing Kent and Jodi and made them our new Bachelor/Bachelorette? I'm sure there are markets for war-torn soldier....
I just can't bring myself to split the couple up for that reason, especially when the guy's a military man like that...though if you want to make KENT a bachelor for the purposes of marriage you can do that...but in her case, please no. I don't want her to NOT support him if he's still living.
I think the best way to handle Jodi and Kent becoming romanceable via divorce would be for their marriage to have been in deep trouble before Kent's latest tour and stint as a POW. The player would be able to find hints about this in various ways. Like during year one, you could find letters they were writing where they are trying to discuss the matter without saying it in a letter, recorded phone calls or videos with them arguing that either Sam or Vincent recorded by accident, you find pictures of them when they were younger and dating shoved in out of the way places, etc. During the first year Jodi could also mention the issues they were having even before Kent had another tour of duty, that she feels like he isn't the man she married anymore, how stressful it is to essentially be a single parent because he's been away so often while the kids were growing up. After Kent comes back, it could play out more obviously that their marriage is in even worse shape. Jodi and/or Kent could spend even less time at home, there could be recurring scenes with the Farmer walking into arguments between them, maybe the Farmer can even find blank or partially filled out divorce papers done by both Jodi and Kent. Kent could talk about how Jodi isn't supporting him emotionally or is unable to and has possibly never been able to, that she gets after him about not doing anything around the house when he does do things, and that they can't seem to agree on anything anymore, especially when it comes to the kids. In order to trigger the divorce, maybe it could be set up as requiring a specific chain of events. Like finding divorce papers partially filled out by Jodi that have been hidden, a letter from a divorce lawyer to Kent, and then three to five scenes about the marriage issues. Each scene would add a point to either "No Divorce" or "Inevitable Divorce." If the second has the most points, at the end of the event chain, it makes a new (even number) sequence of events available where the Farmer can pick to side with Kent, side with Jodi, or choose a middle of the road option. The person with the most points is the one who files for divorce (or has divorce papers served to them, depending on which makes the person that you want to court mode approachable.) In the case of a tie or mostly neutral responses, the two mutually agree to a divorce and settling it as amicably as possible. This way the player can romance either person once the divorce happens, but the don't have to worry about accidentally triggering the split, or feel like they are the sole reason that they divorced. It would also get rid of the ambiguity of fucking Kent over after he gets back from being at war and being tortured. (Hopefully I am making sense because I am half asleep but I wanted to make this comment.)
What's the fascination with married characters anyway? Just curious. . Wouldn't a new character be better without ties?
I would be happy with Shane becoming an official option, myself. My comment above is just a work around for people who want a way to do the naked tango with Jodi or Kent without villianizing either for them or touching the super prickly subject of people divorcing partners that are or were in the service.
It's not that we want them to cheat, it's just that all the good older prospects are taken. I actually think a divorce storyline for Jodi and Kent makes a lot of sense. I wish I could say the same for Demetrius and Robin (Robiiiin!) but they seem solid.
Because I want to be with Jodi above all the other characters (except maybe Robin, but she's at least very happily married to Demetrius, for some unknown reason =p)? I don't want her to cheat, though. =x It does, but it can't be because of YOU...and I agree on the whole Robin/Demetrius part. Jodi/Kent could actually pan out and make sense...but Robin/Demetrius would come out of nowhere. For that matter, there could be a similar divorce thing for Caroline and Pierre and it would make some sense, as well. After all, Caroline doesn't exactly seem satisfied with how things are, and is always complaining about Pierre cares the most about his business and stuff like that. =x Though...marrying Pierre would produce a whole new set of problems, of course, heh.
All I could think of when I read Shaun was the bug in Heavy Rain. SHAAAUUUUUUNNNN!!! I would love to see someone new. I like the bachelors, but I never found my OTP. I like Marnie, but I think the thing with Lewis is pretty darn cute.
I think Marnie's beyond her child bearing age though (so that might be a problem unless they just make it so you can only adopt with her), if her relationship with Lewis is anything to go by, isn't she? I mean, Lewis is definitely an old man, after all...though how old he ACTUALLY is is hard to say... =x However, she seems to genuinely want to be with Lewis and everything...so...yeah, I think I'll pass on destroying that one, even if I do like her character design overall (especially the portrait =p).
I wouldn't mind as many as possible for candidates... eventually. I like having variety of options. However for the next 2 I do hope it is Emily & Shane. As those would be the most likely, even if a lot of the others are quite tempting as well.
