Nerf now comic: How I feel playing starbound <_<

If it doesn't include their tentacle character, theres absolutely no joke.

 

Wait, what's the issue here? Do right-handed people think left-handed people use their left hand for the mouse and their right on the keyboard? Because I don't.

As a left handed person, I can confirm that my best friend is the Devil.

 

I'm right handed.. I also evicted the Devil from his home and made it my own.. He needed to get out of the basement and get some fresh air.. See? Right handed people can help too!

 

I think it's more a question of the mouse hand.
But I can't be certain.

 

I'm ambi-dexterous, but growing up people forced me to use my right hand so much that it does most everything. This includes video games. But when ti comes to new things though neither hand feels right. I just have to pick one and practice till it does.

 

i type with my feet and I use wasd now you should have seen how long it took me to learn to use the naga with my foot.....

 

I like how the pity left-handed mutant is mockingly using her right hand.

 

Yes, the problem is about the mouse. I can explain better.

Using the mouse in the right hand can be very difficult because the fingers are in the "wrong" keys. Is not about changing the mouse buttons, but the hand position. Let me explain to you...

A left handed person can use arrow keys, control, shift, delete, end, page up, insert, home, page down and the num keys to configure the whole game to right hand and use the left hand to mouse. Playing fallout, skyrim, neverwinter, fable III, borderlands and other games you can set each key for one important function of your own choice. Can use the left hand (in the mouse) to press F keys (F1 to F12) and Esc quickily if necessary, leaving the mouse for some seconds.

But using the mouse in the right hand, you have to use the left to press QWEASD and space, in a small space. You can't configure the game keys for a better, confortable use. All keys are default, making sense if you player a FPS in the doom era.

Could use the default Starbound setting, but when you develop a certain level of skill using the keyboard using the mouse in the left hand becomes much more comfortable. You reduces pain for repetitive stress because the hands rest in a more comfortable position in the table and over the keyboard.

Before two starbound patchs, I have two or three programs to keybind my games to joysticks or remap the keyboard, but after the Angry Koala patch, never worked again in the starbound game.

Play starbound or any other game with your hands in a paifull position where you have no habit or skill becomes tiresomeafter a few hours of play. Some people hate playing games that do not allow this type of configuration. I hate transformer for PC because this. I can't play any good multiplayer game of Acclaim because the keybind problem.

 

I don't get it...my dad is a lefty and uses WASD.

 

I don't see how this game has outdated graphics.

I honestly don't know if this Nerf Now guy was just put that in to be sarcastic or genuinely meant it.

 

All these left handed people in this thread are such posers. If you don't use your mouse on the left side, you are officially shunned.

I follow the comic, and its actually more or less meant to be sort of a poke at the kind of people who play CoD, Battlefield series, etc. and how they view these kind of games, less that the game has bad graphics(atleast I'm pretty sure so). Hes made earlier comics about the game and hes never alured that he doesn't like the graphics.
Hes recently added 4 new "characters" and they're basically just sort of character archetypes of how people who play video games tend to act. The people who will only play games with the highest end graphics, the people who only play indie games, the people who profit from youtube and such from games, and tf2 fan because he couldn't think of a 4th person.

Hes honestly not that funny anymore to be honest, too many in-jokes and I only really keep up with him incase he decides to actually do something interesting. I think this thread shows exactly why people need to not do character based jokes in 1-off comics. Easy to offend someone if they don't have the correct context.

As for being on-topic, the statement was meant for people who play with their mouse in their left-hand. I have the same problem with a friend, but he played some of it recently and he didn't do as well as he probably could if the game had rebindable controls.

 

when I was really little, I used to be ambidextrous, then my teachers told me that was wrong ( !?!?!, humans...) now I mostly use my right hand for everything, writing, opening attack, grabbing things.
but with my left hand, anything I write (with an actual pencil) is completely illegible , most legible letters are backwards (its the way I learned to write), and I often miss with any form of coordination with my left hand, however
it shines at using qweasd, able to coordinate with my right hand to be running forward, then 180 and start running backwards. with my right hand on arrow keys I have to stop and think about it for a secon- im dead
I could easily switch to, lets say, ghjbnm because on my keyboard the keys are all relative to each other in the same way
I would be considered right handed because thats what I use to write, but both my hands have different strengths
and, whats the deal with lefties not being able to use wasd (unless of course mouse), it should be no harder to learn wasd with left hand as [what ever else here] with right hand

TL;DR
hands have different strengths, mostly right handed, dont under stand lefties not using wasd
