Not really sure why you necro'd the thread. But you can't place blocks in dungeons for almost 3 months now.
Shoot whoops. I must've missed the red banner. My bad. Also the topic itself just seemed so silly. Oh well.
Yeah lets keep people from using their heads and protecting themselves with walls. Why don't we remove the ability to build things entirely while we're at it?
Yeah the suggestion to "nerf dirt" kinda ticked me off and I didn't look to see. I'll bet the OP asked because of things you can't even do anymore, like cheese bosses by boxing them in.
Yah thread necromancy is generaly frowned on, and people are incuraged to start new thread if the old one didn't have any real pressing conserns or something in it.... and then you can always just link back to the orginal.
I feel you n the aspect of it but, that is why there are generators in the dungeons. Now when they allow us to pick the generators up that will be the defining moment. Where a generator prevents this sort of thing until you reach the end and turn it off. It was a wonderful idea that caught me off guard so nicely. All they have to do now is let us build one or loot one.
On a serious note, Dirt should be nerfed because it is wildly plentiful, easy to mine, and every single merchant buys every single block of it for 1 Pixel in the Nightly, leading to an easily abused method of Pixel farming.
I've always thought that block placing would be OP in PvP, but haven't done it in multiplayer. User placed blocks are already tracked separately, why not just have them easier to break? I really loved the block breaking bosses. The emotional reaction I had when I realized my carefully built base was getting destroyed by a boss was a fun shock! That made me look forward to making strong bases that couldn't be destroyed with more futuristic, stronger block resistances. I'm hoping that there will be some spawnable boss monsters in the final game that you can try to cheese with clever base construction & traps. If you sit there and mine 1000 dirt, I think you deserve 1000 pixels. That seems like the perfect thing to base a currency on too: 1 dirt = 1 pixel. Isn't it the most abundant thing anyways?
With a decent tool, 1000 dirt is nothing. And no, it does not seem like the perfect thing to base a currency on. Currencies are based on value. Value decreases as supply goes up and demand goes down, and dirt is the least valuable block in Starbound because it is the most common and one of the least in demand due to the lack of uses.
Perhaps they are full of microbiota specific to the planets which are very helpful trying to maintain biodiversity stocks in space. We only know the value for that which is talked about.
Actually, explosions destroy blocks and do not drop them. Also, the Fishaxe - the mining feesh - isn't very efeeshent.
