nerf birds immediately

    I'd say part of the problem is that they all appear to be aggro, and now they fly at all altitudes in larger quantities. They were pretty easily annihilating me even with armor, though the same was true of the ranged attacks of ground monsters as well. So powerful, in fact, that they have no problem annihilating all the NPCs.

    Yea I really do not understand why there is so much fuss about the strength of the birds. OP, you landed on planet with no gear and were trying to cut down a tree. You had no armour, and no weapons and wonder why its hard? I personally feel it should be hard, it should make you think about how to approach or whether to even run. No one said you have to fight the birds immediately?

    Making the game easier I believe dilutes the achievement of beating it. Rather than posting feedback like this, why not try a different tactic? Imagine if Darksouls had an open beta lol.

    It's not that they hit hard, it is that they hit multiple times in a short period. If they would simply implement a few more invulnerability frames so that you can get out of an attack before you're hit 5-6 times, you might survive.
    You land on a planet with no gear. You have no fuel to choose a different planet, nor can make any gear until you chop a tree. Try a different tactic... You mean like not play the game? That's not cool.

    I couldn't wait for the devs to fix this so I did it myself, it was making the game unenjoyable at best, and unplayable at worst.

    Exact details:

    Bird aggro radius halved.
    Birds die in the air now instead of falling and staying in knockout mode for 1 second where its possible to do touch damage.
    Projectile damage for all monsters except bosses reduced by 66%

    In most cases they did 45-80 damage per hit to a new character, 15-26 makes a lot more sense and puts it in line with ground attacks almost exactly.

    Not sure what your problem is?

    The problem is by modding your game at this stage, you remove yourself from them providing support for any bugs you find. They have said so. This thread was started in an effort to have the makers rebalance the birds correctly in an official patch so we can properly test other aspects of the game for them.

    Starting a thread on how to do this modification is fine, but trying to influence others to mod their games when you know they will lose the opportunity for support is not.

    I don't know, maybe I'm just generally an above average gamer when it comes to skill and adjusting to difficulty. I honestly did believe the birds were so hard that they'd need such a nerf.

    The only problem I have with flying monsters or "birds" is that they constantly try to stay above you, even if you jump or climb a platform to reach them
    they just increase their distance from you and keeps spewing abilities, I do realise that you can use the bow but then most of the time you cant even
    see the bird due to it going of screen all the time.

    It was kind of hilarious at first when i was trying to board this airship when all of a sudden these terrorist birds appear out of nowhere like: oh you wanna board that airship? too bad... also have an explosive vomit bomb
    --> fly across the skies and die when you eventually land somewhere :D

    They definitely need to be nerfed or fixed. The damage output is insane and they are way too aggressive. ;___;

    Just wanna say, set birds passiv on low level planets...

    How should we be able to get them with a weak wooden bow -.- Just have to wait they're in range of our crazy overpowered weapons xD

    Birds are pretty much always a problem. I'm in full Synth gear as a floran. I have 500 defense and 500HP. Birds on threat 9 planets hit me for about 90-100 a projectile. Birds on threat 10 planets hit me for 160+ Ground enemies, and dying birds hit me for about 30-50 touch damage. Thing is nearly every bird spell hits more than once. My last two deaths I didn't even see coming. first was checking the contents of a chest, the bird apparently came down under my item screen and next thing I know I'm dead. The other I was flying off a cliff with bufferfly boost and flew by a bird. It spewed bubbles as I was zipping by with no way to change my course. It only takes 3 hits from their rapid fire attacks to destroy a fully armored character. It's not as bad as level40 enemies against our old 36def armor but only by one hit.

    The tactic I did was to run the opposite direction until they flew low enough for me to get a whack at them. If you use 'Ctrl' and move your mouse, you'll be able to move your camera around to get a better view.
