Race Nekos (cat people) as a playable race

Lemme guess, ur a cat hater. I used to be a cat hater until someone told me freaking take care their cats, SO BE HAPPY AND SHUT UP!

Neko is japanese for cat. They ARE furries, because they are cats.

However, not all cat-people are furries.

Nekomimis, for example, is a human with cat traits. Meaning, they aren't furry simply because they have cat paws, cat ears, and/or cat tails and whatnot. They are not part of the furries, rather, the kemonomimis.

Kemonomimis are human characters with animal traits.

Basically, a furry is an anthropomorph animal character with human traits, the opposite of kemonomimi. They will have fur, or scales, or whatever the basic animal has for skin. The difference is that they can speak, they stand up like a human, and/or they have human intelligence, etc.

The OP shows pictures of both a furry and a kemonomimi, so I really have no idea whether he is confused, or wants both. Both personally sounds like a good idea, for my tastes. :0

Not siding with anyone, but I'm just clearing up some confusion that seems to be going on.

 

True neko is the Japanese word for cat, however they Interned art defines them as people with cat ears

 

You know, the closest image I have for neko is not in fact cat furries or people with cat ears, nor normal cats, but something called the Nekomata, a breed of black hellcat with two tails, that tend to torment people with their unearthly yowling. They are not furries, they are not human. Anymore. And if you were to somehow connect this by asking hellcats with two tails be an actual race on Starbound, Id say go right ahead and do it, but be aware its harder to make hellspawn look good than it is to make humanity look cute and kittenish, which is what most games but Starbound seems to go for... -w-

Unless you were trying to make a tanuki race look good. Then I just plain hate you.

Cat people would fit in nicely.

An enemy dog race to accompany would be funny.
