Nearing 1.0, still no signs of 4K support?

Games tend to be very blurry if not played at your monitors native resolution. The best we can do is edit the config file to force 4K, however alt tabbing or changing a setting breaks it. Setting the config file to read-only makes the game refuse to launch.

There is also no proper UI scaling, modern games need this. The UI at 4K is very hard to read, borderline unplayable. (There was a mod that addresses this, but I can't get it to work on the nightly build - http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/ui-scale.2596/)

I feel this should be addressed before 1.0 is released, 4K is becoming more and more common. This will need to be addressed soon or later, and your going to leave a lot of bad first impressions for any 4K owners buying the game.

I really hope they add the functionality at the 1.0 update, i have 3 monitors and everytime my skype pops up or something i have to go back and restart the game after editing through the config file.

Yeah man, it's annoying. It's probably a two second fix to add in-game support to select these resolutions. If you edit the config, it even shows it in there!

I donated before the game released because the developers seemed to listen to fans and people having issues with the game, since beta they went dark. I have made 3 threads about this in the last year or so, and nothing ever happens. They seem to not care about the minority anymore. If 1.0 launches with this issue there's going to be many new purchasers that are going to be annoyed that their tri-monitor and 4k setups don't work out of the box for a game releasing in 2016.

The fact the game natively supports UI scaling and we still don't even UI scale slider is a deal breaker for me. I can't even play because the UI is so small at 4k. My eyes get sore after half an hour of staring at inventories.

Yeah, i mean i wouldnt say they went dark they just cared less and less about the tiny things. But at this day and age of technology im sure they'll add it in 1.0

Wasn't it only like last year that 4k really came into the gaming world? Hell, they are just releasing a console that supports 4k, so saying you can't believe a small developer doesn't support 4k seems rather silly.

I can understand the frustration and the small interface is problematic, but is seems rather entitled to say you can't believe it. 4K is still reletivly new, and the majority of people can't even run 4k games out of the box. I wonder if chucklefish even has a system that can run 4k. Without that they couldn't even play with the idea of support.

The console world is always years behind the PC world. 4K has been around in the PC world for awhile now, there's been people on it since 2014. It's starting to become much more common now, and will continue to do so as it becomes cheaper and cheaper.

As far as Indie companies go they are pretty big, and have way more resources than most indie companies (they have their own office in London for crying out loud). I haven't came across any other recent indie games that don't support 4K, even Stardew Valley which was made by one guy has 4K support. It had some minor problems with it at launch, and he hotfixed it within a couple hours.

Let's get one thing straight though, the game already fully supports 4K. They literally only need to make it selectable in-game (caps out at 1440p) because if you edit the config file it gets overwritten everytime you alt tab. It's a very quick fix. The game also already has automatic UI scaling based on your native resolution, the problem is it stops getting bigger past 1080p so they need to expand it to scale for 1440p and 4K. Another pretty easy fix, a modder already did it, but newer versions of the game broke the mod. Even at 1440p, the UI is pretty dang small, and 1440p is pretty common nowadays.

Tiy has shown tri-monitor screenshots running the game in the past, even before the game was even released so I kinda expect 4K and tri-monitor setups to work out of the box in 1.0.

I get 60FPS steady on the nightly, have not tried the stable build for awhile.
