We're already able to customize our equipment, but what about giving an item a unique name? (like in Skyrim) Eg: I get two pistols. I name one Law, and the other Order. Those show up as the names for the weapon, instead of the weapon's generic name.
Sort of like an Anvil from minecraft, without the durability part. Sounds pretty cool, possibly whenever you create or buy the weapon you have the option to name it, or you take it to your ship's customization machine thing and do it.
Yea, this'll be pretty damn cool to have -insert long deadly name- for a weapon In the end, it's just a stick xD
Sounds great! Perhaps when an enemy player is killed, it would give a message like: <player name here> was slain by <player 2 name here> using <weapon name here>. How would you propose to implement it? A machine? A npc? something else?
That would be Weird... For me: Name Pets, Name Ship, Name a PLANET (if you the first to find it in a MultiPlayer Server), would awesome to have. ^^
Good idea if the name of weapon would be viewable only by the player who named it. This would avoid naming issues since there are players who could be offended by uncommon names ingame. (oh lets not go naming characters, i bet the dev team are having enough problems with it allready )
Actually I think Tiy mentioned you being able to name planets somewhere. Don't reference me though I'm only 90% sure

That would be pretty cool. What would be the process to change the name? It shouldn't be like Minecraft, I don't want to spend exp/pixels to name something.
Sounds nice, however I wish for it to be possible only by finding a rare item which will give the ability to name any weapon once! This will make the named weapon even more rare and truly unique!
In a similar vein, how about modifiers to a weapon's name that you can add after using them for a while, like in Way of the Samurai? Team Fortress 2 has a similar system with its Strange weapons. For example, I have a generic "Wooden Stick," but if I achieve 50 kills with it (or some such thing), I can take it to an NPC and add a title to it, turning it into a "Killer Wooden Stick," ja?
That seems like an entirely different thread that can be expanded on, upgrading weapons. I'd prefer this just being an option in whatever machine you can use to customize things. Tiy did say that customization of gear would be in the game, unless I'm just remembering wrong.
My idea was to be able to give your gear a unique name for customization/RP purposes. I do like the idea of upgrading gear when you complete certain tasks with it.
I put this in the suggestions a few months back, I REALLY love the idea of being able to name weapons and armor. It makes it feel special, I tend to get attached to equipment in games so naming them makes me feel like I have been through a lot with the equipment I use. I'm a nerd... I give this my full support...
