I actually really like this acronym idea. It gives them a name based on their function like you'd expect a robot would, and at the same time have an easy name to call them.

A butchered phrase, "anima de metallo" in Latin. I'm going to assume the robits are made of metal.

This is actually the first suggestion on this thread that I full-heartedly agree with,
I'm obsessed with the Gods and Goddesses of mythological times (Mostly Greek)
And this just fits perfectly,
Even the name Volcan sounds great for there race name.

I'm one who likes to stay true and original to names like that,
So really I don't care for this idea to much myself,
But I'm sure someone else can appreciate it.

 

I think they would just be "Robots"
They would just be a bunch of random robots who broke free of what ever they were made for.

One thing they should do is make them semi-organic like the engi from Faster Than Light, that way they can be a proper race and not just random robots

Based on my memory of the 47 min livestream,
I think I quite clearly remember something that looked acutely like a brain.

 

Yes, one of the hairstyle choices for a robot is a brain protected by glass.

 

That it looks like a brain doesn't really mean it has to be organic. Perhaps it's a purposeful imitation, or a mechanical construct that just happens to look like a brain following the same reasons brains look the way they do.

 

I like the idea of robots from all different backgrounds coming together and forming a community,
all with a common goal.

A kind of United States of Robotica, if you will, with all kinds of robots/cyborgs.
It explains exactly why they all look so different in customization choices, as most robots of the same type look identical.
