    Description:
    This mod adds Tea as a brand new crop with the same growth time/cycle as Coffee, and offers 9 different Tea drinks through unique cooking recipes.
    It also includes, 4 'Artisan style' items crafted through Kitchen Cooking; to better profit off of Tea.

    Because, this is was originally an XNB only mod. The mail data was modified so NPCs will send cooking recipes for the above items.
    You also receive two reoccurring letters; one in the Summer and the other in the Winter where you are given some Tea 'seeds'.
    As well as eventually sending a recipe to teach you how to "craft" Tea seeds yourself; but at a high cost.

    I've been wanting either a Tea mod, or for Tea to be officially implemented for quite a while now. Unfortunately, neither came. So, I finally decided to make my own.

    Changes in V6:
    I updated the Tea crop sprite to look a bit nicer. I also lowered the Buffs to a more reasonable level. As well as giving Green Tea a small Speed Buff so users can have a base Tea that's roughly equivalent to Coffee in terms of Buffs. Though Green Tea, is stronger.
    Language Update:
    v1.2 of Stardew Valley was officially released.
    As such; I've now updated my mod so that support for the new languages is available. My Tea items will remain in 'English', but they're usable on any language you choose.

    2. The issue with mail disappearing due to missing letter data in the Mail files has been fixed. [4-27-17]
    3. Fixed typo on folder name in 'Stephan's Lot of Crops' compatibility version.* [4-28-17]
    *(Note: The typo issue regarding the folder name doesn't break anything yet. I think SMAPI saves it from breaking. But, could cause issues on case sensitive filesystems in the future if not fixed.)​
    4. Entoarox helped me fix the MoreCrops' fruit trees planting issue.* [4-28-17]
    *(Note: Only affects the MoreCrops compatibility pack. You no longer need to hoe the dirt first. You can plant them straight into the ground like before in v1.1)​
    5. Fixed Typo in Config.json in the MoreCrops Compatibility pack causing some crops to be missing from the store. [5-10-17]
    6. Fixed another typo in the MoreCrops compatibility pack, Config.json that switched Algae Soup for Poppy Seeds. [5-22-17]
    7. Fixed some bad Crop data in the MoreCrops compatibility pack where Gold Seeds were growing Iron, not Gold Ore. [5-22-17]

    Install instructions:
    Install SMAPI, and Pathoschild's "Content Patcher" mod(link shown above). Then download my Content Pack, & extract the "MysticTempest_Tea_and_Botany_Mod" folder. Move it into the "Mods" folder into your game folder.
    The "Botanymachines" & "shopexpander" folder are for the WIP expansion.


    Note:
    I've also included my unfinished, WIP; but fully usable Botany expansion. It's disabled by default, but can be re-enabled by the generated config found in the Content Pack folder after first start.
    It has its own unique dependencies; so see the README for further details.

    Also, I have also pushed my mod data pretty far back so it should be compatible with the other current crop mods by default.

    Summary:

    Using Platonymous' CustomFarming mod I created a "Tea vending machine" add-on for my mod. It's a simple way for players to add in some new teas for themselves. Geared towards those looking for some real-world teas, but used by anybody.
    It uses 3 Tea leaves, and 1 foraged item to create the Tea. All the Teas it generates default to the name of "Imported Tea", but this is easily remedied in the json file. Please view the README.txt enclosed for further details.

    Note:
    I included 2 ReadMe files. 1 is text based, the other is PDF and includes pictures.

    As well as a savefile with the recipes, and greenhouse unlocked. You also get all the ingredients to make the Tea items in your fridge.
    This is in case you want to try it out immediately; instead of having to wait for the recipes & tea to show up in your game.
    It'll only work if you have the mod installed correctly; due to the new items being in your inventory. And, this save was heavily edited; so I wouldn't recommend taking off and playing an actual game with it. It's just for preview purposes.

    v2: Sweet Tea sprite color adjustment recommended by: Buttershark
    And, rounded out the glass sprite a bit more.

    So, I modified the sprites for Coffee(drink), Coffee Beans, and the actual crop plant. As well as the appropriate data for Coffee.
    And, because of the aforementioned Keg issue; I created a cooking recipe for the Sweet Tea as a workaround.
    You get the recipe in the mail from Leah at 2 hearts with her. And, the ingredients for making it are '5 Tea Leaf Cuttings', and '1 Sugar'.

    Anyway, I'll probably come back to this and fine tune things(sprites,ingredients for recipe, etc) later on. But, I figured I'd at least release what I have now.

    Minor note: In the crop section of the preview. The bushes on the left with a lot of flowers are ready to be harvested. The ones on the right with the reduced amount of flowers have just been harvested.

        Oh yay! I LOVE this! I've been hoping and begging (silently) for a tea alternative to the coffee! Maybe it'd be possible to also have a cup of plain tea on a saucer as well! You'd just make it without the sugar. So perhaps it ups health more, but gives less energy?

        If I may offer ONE suggestion! I think the blue around the edges of the glass is a bit too dark and intense! I found a color that would match the glass and menu perfectly, if you'd like to try it out!

          I replaced all of the files, and everything works beautifully! The only issue I'm having, is after trading out the files twice, the menu sprite for the tea looks like a mug of coffee. Am I doing something wrong, or have you not added that glass sprite change yet?

            Haha, yea, I was the same way Buttershark! I've never really been fond of the Coffee; and was hoping Tea would be added by CA back during the 1.1 update. When there wasn't; I looked around for a Tea mod, but there didn't really seem to be anything usable. Finally, I figured I'd get around to attempting one myself.

            That's a great suggestion about lightening up the glass; I appreciate the feedback! I'll go ahead and do that in a bit. [Edit: Original post now updated]

            And yea, when I was making the sprite for my sweet tea. I did see a regular tea cup on a plate like you mentioned. It was a bit further down in that springobjects file. I think CA was thinking about Tea, but never implemented it. So, maybe down the road if I can figure out how to call up that sprite; that one could be used for the unsweetened Tea.


            As for your issue with it showing as a Coffee mug. The glass is in there; underneath the springobjects.xnb file. I'd double check that it correctly replaced the old one, and that none of your other mods are interfering with it.
            The drinking animation still has a brown mug, but since it's more of a generic animation I didn't want to edit that one. However, the sprite in the menu/inventory should look like my preview.

              Well, you only have the one file in the Maps folder. Springobjects. But there's also a springobjects in content as well as maps. Since your file is in Maps, I figured that's where I needed to put it. Do I need to also put it in content too? Or did you mean to put another file under the springobjects, because right now it's the only one in the map folder.

              Also, thank you so much for taking my suggestion! I'm honored. :'D

              *EDIT: Fixed it! It's all good! And my dear hubby Elliot now gives me tea instead of coffee in the mornings, which makes me so happy! I did place the springobjects in Content as well. I don't know if that's what did it or not! But I'm just happy it's working! :D

                Alright, I still need to figure out how to change buffs. But, I managed to figure out how to add in the sprite for CA's teacup. Then went ahead, and added the Unsweetened Tea idea you had.

                Thanks to your recommendations, Milkheart, I was able to figure out a few things. So, down the line I might try to add a few new Teas(substitute honey for sugar, herbal forage teas, maybe even some using the fruit), and possibly remake this into an addition instead of replacing Coffee.

                For now; this seems like a good WIP point. 2 basic teas, their recipes, and the crop.

                    Alright, I updated my original post.
                    And, am happy to say I'm now releasing this, officially, as a finished mod.

                    I spent the past week working on art, and figuring out all the code I needed to put in.
                    Tea is now a new crop; instead of replacing Coffee. And, as mentioned up top. There are new teas, and artisan-like items to profit from.
                    I did some testing, and it seems to work perfectly on my end. But, let me know if there's any issues.
                    Anyway, see the included Readme files in the download link up top for more info.

                      I think you should try and make more crops, unofficial continuation work with your mod? I know it'll probably work together but alot of people like the more crops mod. I think your tea mod would go well with it.

                        Neat idea! As someone who likes both tea and coffee, I was wondering if this overwrites coffee in the good or adds tea so we have both. I see the initial version wrote over the coffee, does the most recent update?

                            Well, this version of my mod will stay an XNB-only mod.

                            But, I can see if they want to add in my items to the 'more crops unofficial continuation' mod as an alternative for others.
                            It wouldn't be too hard.

                            And yea, as Coolwyngs mentioned, Tea and Coffee are separate. My first one was indeed a replacement.
                            However, I'll go update the original post to clarify a bit better that the new mod is no longer a replacement crop.

                                Coolwyngs was asking about the possibility of implementing some compatibility between your 'more crops unofficial continuation' mod, and my Tea mod.

                                Besides a new crop; I also implemented new cooking recipes for my artisan-style items. As well as updating the mail file to send the recipes & crop.
                                So, it wouldn't be hard to add, but I don't know if that'd be something you'd be interested on your end or not.

                                Edit:
                                I've been testing out the beta for Stardew, and my Tea mod isn't compatible with the coming Localization changes.
                                Foreign languages are obviously incompatible due to missing game data.
                                But, they also changed something in the English files which causes a crash. I'm investigating now. So, I'll need to update this mod later.
                                But, in the meantime; think about whether you might want to add this to more crops.

                                  I don't really have the time to work on modding right now. Or even play stardew.
                                  If you want to you can take the crops more files and make a version of your mod that incorporates the more crops.

                                    I might look into that after Localization is officially released. I made a temporary & partial fix for my mod to work with the English version of the Beta.
                                    But, either way it'd probably be best to wait and see if any drastic new changes are rolled out by the devs.

                                      Here's a temporary fix; but I don't know if they'll change anything else between now, and officially releasing the Localization update.
                                      One more note, at this time v5 of my Tea mod is only compatible with the English language version of the Beta.

                                      The only thing I needed to update in my mod to continue compatibility with the English version was to change the "ObjectInformation.yaml" file.
                                      That is the English version of the object files. You'll need to update the other language files if you want to add multi-language support.

                                      For instance; including Spanish would also require editing the new spanish version of SpringObjects; "SpringObjects.es-ES"
                                      This is because some in-game images have changed across the game.
                                      You'd also need to update the rest of the files that have Spanish alternates. Like the "ObjectInformation.es-ES.yaml" mentioned below.



                                      Using one of my new items as an example:

                                      The original, v1.1 "ObjectInformation.yaml" with my item had the following line:
                                      797: "Tea Leaf Cuttings/20/-300/Seeds -74/Plant in spring or summer to grow a Tea plant." #!String


                                      However, the new Beta "ObjectInformation.yaml" file requires items to have a "Display Name" field in their data. In other language files it's used for the translation:
                                      797: "Tea Leaf Cuttings/20/-300/Seeds -74/Tea Leaf Cuttings/Plant in spring or summer to grow a Tea plant." #!String


                                      The Spanish version of the "ObjectInformation.es-ES.yaml" for comparison(my Spanish is a bit rusty, but you get the idea). The first name in the data field is always in English.
                                      While the second one, is translated along with the description:

                                      797: "Tea Leaf Cuttings/20/-300/Seeds -74/Corte hojas de Té/Plántalo en primavera o verano para tener Té" #!String

                                      I'll update this if it changes. But, I figured I'd start getting some info out now.
                                      And, just be aware that if you're creating a single language mod. The game'll crash for the user if they switch languages due to it missing the appropriate data.

                                      Using my Tea mod in English as an example. You acquire Tea, and save the items to your inventory. Next, you switch to an alternate language; like Spanish, and reload the save.
                                      The items will end up breaking as they have no game data. And, if at anytime you hover over the items; the game will proceed to crash.
