My planet was hit with a large meteor.

Hmm. That might serve my nefarious plans nicely while orbital bombing isn't implemented.

Direct me towards it at once.

I started my first game on a planet with frequent meteor showers. I heard a giant explosion and some debris on the edge of the screen. When I checked it out it turned out a meteor had hit a mountain just to the right of my house and blown a good 20 blocks out of it O.O

Would lining the roof of my underground storehouse with obsidian or magmarock help reduce damage caused by a meteor strike? I watched the entire upper floors get pulverized at my second base. As it was raining rocks all around me, I think I noticed the areas around the outside with magmarock seemed less affected?

with the massive meteors... there really is no protection, it destroys EVERYTHING. Speaking of guns that shoot, you can get guns that shoot the massive meteors too >.>

Yes that will help. I did that with my home. It can be a cool challenge to cope with meteors instead of running away like a deranged space hobo. Just make sure the roof is at least 2 layers thick. Obsidian works well, and if you want a touch of irony you can use meteor rock. Anything that's hard to mine can be useful

On my first charactera home planet, I was bombarded by small meteors frequently. They destroyed my house and Gerald the Glitch Wizard, my roommate. R.I.P. Gerald.:(

Folks, please, if'n you know a planet that gets hit with larger meteors, please give coordinates! I wanna see this crap up close and personal!

My first experience with them was on a planet I was hoping to colonized. I had just built a platform that I would land on while warping down when I heard the explosions start and trees started to fall. It didn't last long but tore up the terrain pretty badly, so I reclaimed my building material and warped out of that one. A similar thing happened to me with fire rain but instead of making the ground look like a WWI battle field it destroyed the wooden structures of an Avian village I was passing through at the time. Can't wait to seeing weather events comes to stable. Don't get me wrong I like a challenge but not the kind that will interfere with my building plans.

Once a meteor broke open an apex lab and gave me free tech. I didn't even get close enough to see the main building at that point.

You can go to the coordinates page of the wiki and press ctrl + F then search meteor. You'll get about six results. Just follow the coordinates for death!

This meteor was pretty huge actually, a hole approximately 50 blocks wide to start, but then it got deeper, and deeper, and the chasm just got wider until it stopped just before the 3rd layer.

It's like Lavos crashed into my planet or something.

It feels a bit as if the comets appear more often in later Sectors on stable. I have seen the really huge ones only once and it was in the delta or X sector.

I actually searched for them and tried buildiing some kind of protection.A Secret Bunker on a dangerous planet if you catch my drift!?^^ if you have a solid 10 block Steel roof, you are pretty safe anywhere^^

Otherwise you can try to build kind of flagpoles with smal platformes on different hights. The Comets need an impact point so give em one higer up .D

First you tell me what mods you have running, changing the universe. Most of the planets i have written down Coords of are from completely clean stable.
And now i got a few with "only" Frackin Flora, no Spice of the universe and such.

So... if you got the clean stable your the chance i can give you some coords is pretty hight^^

That may be true for the most part, but the first planet I started on was in the Alpha sector and had regular meteor showers

Zero mods. Just pure Enraged Koala.

And yes, I WANT to see the large meteors in the face. Thus my request. I can dump my pixels into Voxels beforehand.

Not very often, but it first happened to me right after they implemented the meteor showers as a possible weather event. I was using a mid-lvl character, and after the weather patch, I went exploring, and found a lovely little world with a nice biome set, along with frequent beautiful, but largely harmless meteor showers. I decided to take up residence, but wanted to avoid any problems with all the fire the meteors would splat all over the ground. So I found a rather large hill, and dug out a fairly large hobbit home-base with living, storage and working spaces. As I had been saving up various furnishings and decorations in my ship for just such an occasion, I was able to quickly set up a quite comfy little bunker.

I got finished, and decided to more thoroughly explore the planet. I kid you not, I got maybe 30 ingame feet outside my brand new door, before something that looked like a small moon, complete with craters all over it and taking up roughly half the screen, fell out of the sky and turned that hill into a rubble-strewn, meteor rock-covered hole in the ground. Only the very lowest levels remained largely uncompromised.

My advice? If you want to stay there, build underground, and/or build impact shielding made from meteor rock, magma rock, or obsidian.

I really want to see this myself one day. The closest I got were a off screen impact and hadoukens raining from the sky.

I think I've found a planet that large meteors crash on frequently. There are giant chasms in the ground that go so far down tht I am swalowed in blackness. These are usually accompanied by steep hills that are quite difficult to traverse. I'll post the coordinates soon.
