I can't say i understand the feeling you are feeling op. Though i'm excited to play the game for sure, i don't feel like my hype is dying any. I mean maybe its because i was never insane over board "OMGOMGOMGWHENISITCOMINGOUT". The feelings i felt when i preordered are the same i feel now. This looks like a large amount of fun, here is my funds. As long as i get my invite when it's done then i don't really mind the wait.

I don't see how they've jerked us around. They've stated that the final game may be released in 2013. They've promised you extra features due to the raised amount (saying they'll hire extra staff so that it won't increase the time it takes to release the game.) What's the problem here? according to the roadmap they've been getting started on AI, that's probably one of the hardest things to code in a game ever. Let's not mention the pre-order soundtrack which you can already download, being updated for free. What company has done that?

    On another note....

I've waited for Guild Wars 2 and it was worth it. I've been waiting for this game for a while but haven't payed much attention to the forum. I'd suggest just spending time on other stuff instead. If the beta is ready it'll be either sent to your internet or on articles + social media. (me I can just spend those hours just battling foes in Age of Empires II. Or why not play some more terraria?)

Hype isn't a good thing. From bad experiences as a result of hype I'd say I'm glad you're loosing it since after hype from other games you get the people who think this is the best thing that ever existed ever undervaluing any other title that unfortunately gets announced at a similar time. So if that'll stop that. Good.
Hype just usually makes a title seem perfect, which no game is perfect. Even Bioshock Infinite has a few imperfections.

Just going to say this now. If you bring your hopes up too high expect to crash down fast.

(Yes I do know when this game was first announced and no I did not register a forum account at the time because I knew that it was too soon for their ever to be a release date for it.)

Well just my thoughts on this whole thing.

Just a suggestion, if you want the release date so bad, how about contributing on the creation of Starbound so it will be released faster? Ever though of that

I am pretty sure people are forgetting the validity of this statement on the whole. Seriously, we pay we say. I think chucklefish needs to fucking remember who is asking for the money, here. Its not us. We pay we say.

You didn't read a word of what I said...
They even told us that they had no idea when it will be out, and you preordered knowing this information, or should have known this information by being an EDUCATED INVESTOR. If you didn't do your research and take the risk you wanted to take, that's your own fault for being foolish.

I think we would all like to know the dates. But remember that you pre-ordered knowing (if you read the pre-order information) that the dates were not set. You can't be justifiably upset that they haven't given one yet.

Okay, why don't you go send chucklefish an email asking them to hire you. Go on, go ahead and ask. They will just say "AAAH OKAY YOU CAN MAKE A WALLPAPER LOL".

In their exact words. Dude check the RoadMap. It says the expected release date and do you know how many months are left in 2013? Here let me help you! 7!

You want them to make you a trailer? waste more time? Go for it. They've shown you live streams what more do you * want?

I think it would help to have some actual experience on making games before complaining about there being no release date.

I saw your original post and can tell you that, personally, yes. I have written code. Yes I have made a full sprite sheet. Yes I have troubleshot manually. It's a lot of work. Very time consuming, very tedious, very taxing.

As for the 'we paid money; we deserve to know' thing? What you paid for is the game, a beta key and the soundtrack, plus whatever came with whatever tier you purchased. You did not purchase information on the game, nor did you purchase the dev's time to answer your questions or do things you think they should. While I agree that we should get a little bit more information, I only say that because I'm genuinely curious, not because my wallet and my position as a consumer makes me feel entitled.

this is so True and well i would rather they keep alot of information from us so there will be a lot more to explore and discover rather then knowing everything beforehand

You can only pull the "educated investor" card so much before events take a turn towards negligence on the companies part. Even HUGE companies like Microsoft take users suggestions and requests into consideration (see: Windows 8.1 update, and the return of the start button). Being an educated investor is great, but its ultimately for naught if the company is a brick wall. Are you saying we should have realized Chucklefish was a "brick wall" before we pre-ordered? That is what it sounds like. You aren't doing them any favors, thats for sure. Like I said, Chucklefish needs to remember who is asking for money. We are not obligated to dish out money hand over fist to them, but it seems like they expect us to, and once they have our money they have us by the balls either way.

You paid for access to the Starbound beta and soundtrack, not for a release date. Also if you had ever developed anything, you would know that you simply don't pull out an accurate release date from your hat.

Nobody here has any appropriate reason to be disappointed in the developers. If you are, then leave. Simple as that. Saying things like that are not contributing to the community at all, and you should just leave because the developers already have enough stress on their shoulders, you're only adding more.

"They could atleast update the roadmap."
    - By doing this they are wasting time that could be spent on making the game.
"Could we see a demo or trailer, or something of the sort?"
    - Once again, wasting precious time that they could be making the game.

If you have nothing good to say, don't say it. Simple as that.

Its not as simple as "JUST LEAVE LOLLOLOLOL", most of us who are upset have between twenty and seventy-five dollars into this game. Just dropping everything and storming out on nearly $100 is not an option. At least, not for me. Also, most of the people sticking up tooth and nail for this game have not donated, and until you dump your hard earned money into something, you won't understand how it feels to have your money being dangled in front of your face while the company says "Nyah nyah nyeh we can do whatever we want and you have to lie back and take it because its your money on the line nheheheey!"

Bud... It's been what, less than a month since pre-orders opened? You expect them to be able to go from not even a fathom of what the end date could possibly be to know the exact date or even the month that they'll be done? Try a little experiment. Write a small book. 100-150 pages. Doesn't have to be good, just has to make a bit of sense. Tell me tomorrow exactly when your book will be finished. You should have enough time to know, right? I'll be generous, I'll give you a week.

I haven't released any games that I have made for good reasons, but I still know that it takes a long time to create something good. Quality over quantity.

How is chucklefish being a like a brick wall? In the one month ( yes it's only been one month since pre-orders started) they have been releasing information about the game non-stop. Almost every day there is a new video, a new screenshot, or a new livestream about the game.

Never shut up and take my cyber cookies.

I've tried to make a video game not much but on MMF2, Game Maker, RPG Maker(RGSS) and Flash. None of it is easy at all. AI can be one of the hardest things to code and they've gotten a lot done considering. I struggle with simple code even editing it.

I have a feeling a few people need to step back and take a look at the bigger picture here. Look up some coding and take a look at what they have to do for a living because it might shock you to discover it isn't all fun and games. (from time spent at college studying the games industry.)

Just my thoughts on the matter.
