Ok, so I posted this in the coordinates thread at x:-78700430 y:5781363 Beta alpha lac minoris 1a

Then today I got to thinking about it. This is the most sinister biome in the game. You see, all of these cute little houses and lights can be smashed for pixels, so today i was running around smashing them like a Titan.

When you click on it with the "n" command, however, it asks "I wonder who lives in these cute little houses?

And then it occurred to me. Pixels. the only thing that could reasonably fit through a 2 pixel high door is a 1 pixel creature. When I smash them, they release pixels. That means pixels live in these houses. Yellow flesh colored pixels. Pixels that are sentient and sapient enough to build cute little houses, and here I was smashing them up. So much for spreading the peace of the hylotl.

Monsters drop pixels when they die. These creatures that made these houses are being eaten by the monsters of this world.

Pixels are traded intergalactically as currency. That means that we are carrying and trading in little corpses. Maybe they're not all dead, after all 30% of them seem to escape every time I regenerate. It's almost too horrifying to think about.

We are trading in the corpses of these creatures. or, if not the corpses, since it seems that they are electronically stored, we are actually trading in the essence of these creatures.

In other words, if not the bodies, than we are trading in the souls of pixels, each precious soul ripped out of a tiny creature in the cute houses and traded between the greater races like. . .

well like the great old ones the humans talk about. Like the one that destroyed civilization on their planet. Humans are not going to like this theory.

I suddenly have the massive urge to go farm some pixels for a few hours...wonder what could've caused that?

You mentioned monsters drop pixels when they die. Maybe the houses are occupied by tiny monsters.

This would also explain why you lose 40% of the compressed pixels when you refine them back into raw pixels...you've smashed the poor things into oblivion....

And don't forget that whenever you refine ore in the refinery, you get pixels, too...It's like they were mining the ores for themselves, but then you came along, and mined the ore with them still in it...Whenever you smelt the ore, you're incinerating all these pixel creatures...

If you look close at the houses it kinda looks like little faces on the side....maybe the houses themselves are the small peace loving, wish granting, world peace bestowing innocent creatures you've been mercilessly maliciously murdering!!!! :chrono:

    bah. primitive.

Well getting down to the existential crisis, it's this:

The high fashion standards of my race, by far the coolest and most trendy in the universe, requires massive amounts of pixels to look our finest. . . but Hylotl peace and tranquility demands that we live in harmony with all creatures. (with the exception of Florans, since they are, in fact overgrown, uppity plants and not creatures at all, and of course the clunky, perpetually out of fashion glitch who are, in fact, things) So. . .How am I to spend my way to high fashion knowing that I m doing so on the back of the souls of sentient life?

I want a tech that shrinks me and lets me go in the houses for special items.

What would happen if you used that tech on a server, and while you were inside the house, your friend mined it for the pixels?

It would drop 7 pixels instead of 6 and you would die and respawn.

Wait so pixles are really the souls of the shrunken versions of all the races?!

When I first found these houses, I was a little dissapointed they didn't have tiny inhabitants to go along with them. I wanted to collect all of the houses, and build a tiny village above ground in my base. I would have given them a banana plantation and everything.
