My home just exploded for no reason.

So, there i was, building an awesome massive space station inside an asteroid and this happened:

A HUGE explosion tore though the asteroid walls and obliterated a corridor and half the medbay.

I wasn't on an asteroid biome, it was a planet. I built a space elevator and built a station there to profit from the breathable asteroid field above a planet. It's a level 2 planet with snow biome.
I use some mods, but none that adds weather events or anything, and i've never seen an explosion that big.

So, what was that? Is it common? Is there any way to stop it?

 

Are you sure you didn't get hit by a huge meteor? That's kinda what looks like happened...

 

Yeah, it was a meteor. You can see the rock it left on the floor in the lower-center of the image.

 

I personally think it was the Moon Nazis; A sub-sector of the Illuminati!

 

There was some terrible B movie like that... My dad's probably watched it by now, I'll have to ask how it went. >.>

But seriously, that is what happened., asteroids spawn at the top of the screen, I'll bet you were down in the lower right of the base, or perhaps somewhere outside, below it when that happened

 

Did you accidentally leave the gas on?

Btw Iron Sky rules! The film is pretty gash but the idea is really really funny.

 

The only things that causes explosions this big are asteroids.

Starbound thought it was neat to make an asteroidception, and so it did.

 

Astroids they cause all that trouble ad what mod did you use to get all that stuff it would save me time having to go out and editmy charecter time and time again

 

Asteroids? Wow, I know there are asteroids that rain from the sky causing mayhem everywhere in some biomes, but i didn't know there was another kind...

Yes, i was on the medbay when this happened, i didn't see anything coming, as my zoom is usually on 3x (i put 1x to take the screenshot, due to the huge explosion), I just saw asteroid pieces flying everywhere and the crater. it made the game freeze when it happened. (i kinda wish it to have crashed instead...)

If you're talking about the blocks, it's all from the Avali mod, made by this gentleman right there, RyuujinZERO himself. (yay senpai noticed me)
The furniture are from the pixel goods store, and all those pixels are made by refining the ore i get from the ore farming mod.

Anyway, is there any mod to remove this kind of explosion? or does it happen only on certain planets? I spent a lot of time in this space elevator to see it getting blown to bits like that, it even made me ragequit...

You probably wouldn't. If it crashed, your world file might become corrupted.
