How did you get even get to T2, rofl.

I spent like five minutes on a T2 planet, died a couple of times to being one or two shot(In silver armor), and then immediately went "NOPE" and went back to T1 planets.

About the music, i noticed it seems to be repeating the same tracks more often than not following the patch yesterday. It wasn't doing that before.

Try to run from birds? In my experience they are just as fast, if not faster than you and absolutely want to kill you. There is a problem with them killing npcs as well.

Yeah. I had steel armor and weapons before I even went to T2 planets. Coal is being an ass to find though.

Hmm, might be, I didn't notice that much. =P

To be fair, in my opinion the blocking thing felt less like a surprise decision from the dev, but more them to reacting to an oversight over the way they wished combat to happen. More of a "oops, that wasn't how we'd meant things to be, sorry" that would have probably been of little issues if they hadn't made the oversight(for example, even Terraria, for most weapons, has combat which prevents hitting enemies through blocks generally. So I see this more as the devs having forgotten to add lines of codes to prevents such from happening simply because they did not think about it and were surprised when players did because they did not predict such a thing happening. Personally it's less supporting one side or the other than not really caring much if blocking would have been kept versus the current modifications which prevent it especially as combat is getting slowly balanced to a point where it'll probably be moot whether or not we "needed" to use blocking to fight enemies when the beta was first released).

Also, right now I don't actually dislike the change to birds. It -will- need balancing(though I'm always slowly getting around to fighting them efficiently), but I feel it's more, and I am not sure how to put it, "involving" than when they just passively passed by all the time barely taking notices of you and being almost just glorified backdrop.

Am I finding them hard to fight? Hell yes, and from what I gathered the devs seems like they are working on allowing melees weapon to be "directed" as well(think Terraria's spear) instead of striking just in a single direction all the time, which will be a great change(especially for spear users).

I'll wait to see how it gets balanced out in the future patch before making a definitive judgement.

Edit: this said, kudos for the lenght at which you at least took to write your thoughts on the game. It's refreshing compared to all the barely explained "This thing sux, fix naoh!" a player all too often read right now.

I don't dislike the change to birds, no. I think it's kind of amusing, in a mildly frustrating way. The only time I nearly died fighting the UFO, for example, was when a bird wandered through and tried to murder me with bloody vomit.

This game has promise. Loads and loads of it. And I am perfectly willing to play while the kinks are ironed out. It's a very, very fun game.

Same here but if it just happens over and over it can get frustrating.

Yep yep. But it was very satisfying to go back to a Tier one planet and snipe them with a Steel bow.

Yeah that part was satisfying, using a Steel bow

It's fascinating seeing the game this early in beta since we get to experience all the weird anomalies that come with the changes.

I'l admit i'm a bit into Tier 3 and i'm not really having fun anymore since i die constantly but even with all the broken things the game shows so much promise that there's no way the final product can be anything but amazing. Beta is beta.

Yeah i agree with that as you wouldn't normally get big changes in a full game apart from DLC.

So playing by myself is fun and all, but I am a social creature so if someone wants to hang out, or like, if you can recommend a server(There are a ton already holy crap), lemme know.

can't help ya with this one unless you want to join me on the odd occasions that I'm online and possibly my friends when they join me.

also did you figure out the music instrument ABC files?

  15. Slywyn

    Slywyn Existential Complex

I haven't messed with them much yet. I've been too busy digging and sniping birds to play instruments. Though I did find a xylophone.

Well if I'm taking you out to dinner, I figure... Perhaps I should team up with you on a server.

On a serious note. I used to run a Terraria server and loved having more player interaction to build and explore with.

What time zone are you in? I'm Eastern (Ohio).

...RIght now you're enforcing the ability to DO that thing onto everyone. Following your line of reasoning, the best game would be a game that enforced no rules at all so you could do whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. A game like that wouldn't really even be a game. More than that, you're saying that we're somehow taking something from you to try and argue for the game we want. I'm not saying you're wrong to want to play in any specific way, but what I AM saying is that we each have every right in the world to argue for the game to be what we'd like it to be.

That is not how a logical argument works. No one is sitting there holding your hand forcing you to block in monsters. If they are I think you should be calling 911 and not sitting here typing.

No one is forcing you to use blocks. They're not. I didn't even know you could do that until I came onto the forums. I could have played the entire game and never realized that you can block in enemies.

By having it be an option you are letting people play the game their way. Whatever way that happens to be. The moment you take away the ability to do it, you are then enforcing onto EVERYONE your vision of how the game should play. Making it the game 'we'd like it to be' at the expense of people who already HAD the game they'd like it to be.

an incomplete game that has features and balance changes still being done...

Edit: if the game were complete an the playstyle finalized I could agree with you but as such the game is still highly in flux
