I think there should be radiation in the game. Some planets are just heavy on those good ol' radioactive isotopes filling the air with radiation. You will have to get protective hazmat or other environmental protection suits in order to walk around on these radiation filled planets. Being introduced to radiation without suits however, would damage you slowly, but also have a very low chance to cause a mutation in the player. The mutation is random. It could be good, or bad. And the look of it could actually be taken from the monster box (the thing the game pulls parts of monsters from for random generation) Wouldn't it be sweet/bad depending on your view.. to be walking around with horns on your head, scales or other weird things? And chucklefish could even implement some functions for some mutations. This in my opinion, radiation and/or mutations, would be awesome. EDIT: (A comment gave me these two ideas. Credit goes to Jiroxys) There's like a serum that can undo mutations, (anti-mutation serum could be sold by stim vendors) Perhaps as well monsters that jump into radioactive pools individually get run through the monster generator again? Could also do stuff like alter their strength.
As long as there's like a serum that can undo mutations, I'm interested in this idea (anti-mutation serum could be sold by stim vendors) Perhaps as well monsters that jump into radioactive pools individually get run through the monster generator again? Could also do stuff like alter their strength.
well since in this universe i'm playing the aliens the enclave have no chance.... also implement orbital bombardment asap ;-) on topic: i like the idea but there should be a way to get rid of unwanted mutations. sandbox games that lock you into a corner are not fun. maybe purchase an expensive cure from a doctor npc or craft an autdoc or a robotic sugery table. it would also be strange for the glitch to mutate, but locking them out from it would also be bad.
Can always name the mutations differently like for example; unstable energy core malfunction or contaminated optics etc...
Dude. I love you for adding these ideas. They are a great addition to this, if you don't mind ill actually put them in the post.
Jiroxys already said there should be anti-mutation stims, which I agreed with and put in the post. As for robots, they can still be altered, not mutated. Radiation would mess with their AI or circuitry (I know radiation wouldn't do that in real life but come on. In the name of science fiction), or also maybe the robots have a sort of created DNA code that gets implanted into the robot rebuilding machines when you die, and the radiation changes it in the robot, making mutations happen.
