Made a remix of Monsoon in FamiTracker. We've already been through why there are no chiptunes (yet ;D) in RoR, so I decided to be contrary and make my own! I still think it sounds heaps better fully fleshed out, or maybe it's my lack of skill, but anyway, this is my tribute to an awesome game and an awesome soundtrack. Any other armchair musicians?

 

Sounds cool! I think the 'lack of fleshed-out-ness' you describe may have something to do with balancing and 'studio mixing' in general. As a musician myself, I'm having trouble getting my balances right so that it gets that same 'studio feel' that professional soundtracks have.

Now I know that decision to not make game music 8-bit is cool idea. No, your 8-bit cover sounds awesome, but that's not what could fit in RoR. So I'd love to hear other 8-bit remakes.

 

I was originally a bit off-put by the fact that the game's music wasn't chippy, but it grew on me. It's still cool to hear a chip remix, though! And a nicely done one, to boot!

It's a great remix. My only criticism would be that it seems to be missing an instrument track that does a lot to flesh it out, it also seems to be missing a lot of the echoes from the original song.
