I've been listening to Anamanaguchis new album Endless Fantasy and I have to say at least one track of Anamanaguchis would be a nice song for Starbound in my opinion. The soundtrack is already fantastic and I'm not saying they are superior but they do have some really nice music.

Chucklefish would need permission from whatshisname before they use his work, or else they'll be breaking the law. To be honest, I don't really see them using another artist's work; they've done a great job on their own music so far, and fans are happy with it.

Yes they would need permission , I also think that what they have is fantastic this isn't a question of if anamanaguchi is producing better music or not it's simply the style I feel would fit well in the game as well.

Well, I feel as if this is an appropriate suggestion to counter with "why don't you just make a mod?" given that replacing some sound files with other sound files isn't very difficult. Other than straight up replacing the game's music with different sound files Chucklefish might add some kind of system to add in music in the form of records or other in-game music storing items, since it was suggested a while ago.

I am a damn fool, should have used the search bar. Here is my opinion on the matter:

Curtis Schweitzer has made incredible music for Starbound with great passion that precisely conveys the awe and beautiful experience of space travel and adventure, but in my honest opinion, his style and music does not match the art direction, game design, and feel of Starbound.

Curtis's music belongs in the new Bungie game, Destiny. A title that plays on a somewhat more serious note whose art choices are next gen graphics, high quality all around in every aspect of the game that makes up the atmosphere, being music and visuals.

The impression I get with Starbound, being not just a 2d sidescroller, but a 8-bit pixel art stylized game that reaches out and back in time to us in the 80s-90s era. That kid who not only played these kinds of video games, but whose imagination was quite fantastical and chaotic where it was a common jaunt for us in our back yard adventure lands to, slay an ancient medieval dragon wizard bandit that imprisoned our princess, who is part cat/wolf (neighbor girl Salina) whose evil lair was a labyrinth like nova nebula in a blazing asteroid field, while you yourself are a Space Cowboy with knight like qualities and a steam engine locomotive as a rocket ship.

Those games we played as kids are all in Starbound.
Starbound is quirky, retro/a call back to our childhood, hyper active rocket booster blast of fun, detailed and expansive super adventure with advanced gameplay, chibi cute with that level of cartoon violence (I am talking anime frying pans/Adventure Time, not Looney Tunes acme anvils.)

Anamanaguchi makes music in exactly that fashion. It's not simply just chiptunes you would find in your classic games, same as how Starbound is not a simple classic style throwback game. It's as if we never updated our graphics and sound capabilities, but have instead massively improved, overclocked and evolved the creators and artists themselves to push every cylinder to max out the potential of the technology they have to work with.

Anamanaguchi is the unquestionably natural choice for music in this game. Not just because they have done it before with stupendous success. But because both indie groups share the same holistic, stylized fashionable road towards spreading love and artistic creation in today's market.

Spoiler contains the Anamanaguchi's #1 kickstarter stretch goal kickstarters intention of combing it's latest album in a Game Jam. (Though the goal intends to make a video game for every song to simply enhance the albums standing and the actual songs in the album should not be the soundtrack in Starbound, but I believe that the Album, Endless Fantasy itself and Starbound are one in the same with one ultimate relevant goal in mind.)

ALSO ANNOUNCING OUR FIRST STRETCH GOAL! AT 250,000 WE WILL ORGANIZE A GAME JAM!

[IMG]$250,000 GOAL: free games based on songs from ENDLESS FANTASY!
We will have a 72-hour marathon where we will invite teams of independent developers to make games based on songs from ENDLESS FANTASY. This will also be open to the public online to develop, and FREE for everybody download to PLAY! We will have a tracklist with loose aesthetic suggestions for each song to pick from (ie: maybe Akira should be a racing game, maybe Prom Night should be a dating sim ;D). More details on this if we reach [$250,000!!

You two mirror each other like one slice peanut butter and the other slice jelly! Work together for the sake of supreme synergy! Don't settle for just profoundly above and beyond epic music(Curtis), Max out this projects and Anamanaguchi's "Endless Fantasy(sounds exactly like the log line for Starbound)" potential and capability!
You two combining forces would be like as if the Power Rangers, Voltron Force, Captain Planet's Planeteers, Gotenks Gogeta/Vegito fusion (as one un-imagined character), were to form up letting their powers combine with a team beam MegaThunderZord Saiyan Fusion that no one could even oppose in the first place!

How Anamanaguchi is described in their about section in FABO:
We are Anamanaguchi. We make hyper-active, hyper-positive 8-bit jams that epicly wail with guitars and drums.

Just goes to show how relatable, down to earth, reachable, indie, equal, open viewed, 8-bit and well matched you two could be together in holy matrimony. Sorry for trying to undermine your job away from you Curtis Schweitzer, and it would really boost your standing in this world too, but you are just not Starbounds natural one true love. With your greatness, it will not be hard for your love to find it's way to you.

Example of why these two belong together:
Really, all of their songs work as the games soundtrack already without even intending for that.
