Bug/Issue Multiplayer Crashing

Whenever I enter the same area or room as another person, my game crashes almost instantly and causes my steam to nearly crash entirely as well. I have to wait for a short time to use steam again before reloading the game. I believe this issue may have been mentioned before but I am unaware of a fix for it, does anyone have any insight or ideas that may help? I have tried almost everything I have found online to fix any simple or minor issues like verifying files and audio and such. The game runs perfectly fine overall. Just whenever I enter the same area or room it crashes everything. It's a weird bug.
