*slaps self for that title* Oooookay, so, anyway! I was not expecting to be doing this much building, but as it turns out, I am! And it's going better and better! So, instead of making a new thread for every new building I create, I figured it would be much better to collect them all together in a thread of their own. ...As you may have guessed, this is that thread! =~_^= So, let's start off with the building that took me more than two days to lay out and finish! Remember the boarding house I made for one of my Felin settlements? Well, where there is a boarding house, there should be a bathing house as well of course! And that is exactly what I spent the past two days building. As it is on the hill next to the boarding house, and the mining camp is on the other side of the hill, I figured to give the place two entrances. Adorable ones. The entrance on the hill (the boarding house is just beyond those boxes on the left), and... ...the entrance at the foot of the hill (the mining camp was beyond that lamp post on the right - I moved the tents, campfire, collapsible chairs, crates and pots to the other side of the mine entrance, since it didn't quite seem right to have people camping in tents right outside the bath house door) So, what amenities do we offer? Well, of course... ...plenty of locker space to store your clothes and valuables! Plenty of toilets to do those things you shouldn't do in the pool! And plenty changing rooms to get ready for the pools/baths! And as you can see in the generator room below, all water is constantly pumped through filtration stations to keep it nice and clean! So, once you changed and stored your belongings in the lockers, where can you go? Well, there's the... oops! Come on, ladies, ladies, these photos are for publication! Could you please cover yourselves up for a minute? *hands out some convenient censor bars* That's better, thank you. So, as I was saying, there is... ...the public bath/pool, for starters. All bath/pools are comfortably heated like that. Ignore those two naked girls, they're not exactly abiding by the rule that in the public area, bathing suits are mandatory. And as you can see, we have private areas as well, for when you want a bath-time cuddle (or 'something') with your loved one. They consist of... ...the Boys Only area. It stretches quite a ways to the left, but as I'm not a boy, I won't go further than that. Instead, I'll show you the... oh please, girls! What did I just say? These pictures are for publication! Here, use these, please! *hands out more convenient censor bars* As I was saying... ...of course we also have the private area for only ladies, and one for both boys and girls. All baths/pools are comfortably heated, and provided with additional toilets in case you won't make it to the ones at the entrance. If you are unsure of where to go, or what is and is not allowed, our friendly hostesses at the counter in both entrances will be happy to explain to you and show you the way! =^_^= [For you curious people out there... Stuff Used; - Felin race mod (of course) The pictures on the walls, the generator, the Bath House signs, the sign in the top entrance and the writing on the wall also come from this mod. - General Store mod (it's that box with the labels to the left of the top entrance). It provided the decorative plants, white stucco walls, Mediteranian brickwork on some back walls, and... that was it, actually. - Avian small temple bricks and temple platforms, and regular smooth wooden platforms. Painted white. - Burning coals. Place them down and walk on them, and you burn. Place them under glass, and they just heat the water. Theoretically. - Game rifle from the Game Hunter mod. It gives you a stuffed and mounted version of each monster you kill with it. And there was an underground lake with some nifty big fish, so I shot them and used them to decorate the entrance buildings. Hey, they tried to kill me first. - An Outpost water tank, some sewer water tanks, and some heavy piping. - Girl's Diary add-on (which requires the StargazerVault mod to work). For those cute doors with the hearts on them, in this case. - Glitch counter and Standard Comfortable chair for the entrances, and that gold cash register is the basic Glitch version colored gold by, I think, the Girl's Diary mod. - Ornate wall and Ornate flooring. Also painted white. - Wooden lockers, Bathroom stalls, Bathroom sinks. That changing room surprisingly is listed as an Underworld counter. It works as a changing room, though. - Large Grated Bulbs and Classic Ceiling Lamps. The ceiling lamps are vanilla, I think, the grated bulbs come from... I think the More Lights mod. - Arrow signs, as well as signs made at the Custom Sign counter in the Outpost. - That fox you see to the left of the top entrance is there because of the Wild Things mod. - Also, after I connected both entrance buildings, I put some dirt back on the 'tunnel', planted some trees, put the grass back with the Staff of Regrowth mod, and planted some flowers from the Bees! mod. I like things looking natural =^_^= - Pots mod. It lets you pick up the breakable pots and vases and such, which is how I managed to move them. - Munari race mod. You don't see any here, but that outfit Cpt. Hippie is wearing is a Munari robe. It's just so gorgeous. - And of course, /admin mode to create lots of materials, not be constantly killed during building (monsters also spawn underground once you've dug a big hole into a hill), and to spawn in some naked Felin villagers =~_^=] Okay! That was it for this build! Next up... I don't know! Either a market with butcher shop, or a restaurant or something. I'll have to see what my inspiration cooks up. And I have to take a break for the weather to stop cooking me, and my laptop. Either way, stay tuned! There'll be plenty more to come! So, time for break. I'm off now to store my clothes and valuables in a locker and take a dip in the Girls Only bath/pool. Oh laaaaadies..! I'm done now, you can remove the censor bars now... [Edit: Okay, so apparently my Dropbox was not agreeing with this, so I just attached the pictures and embedded them from there. Hopefully you can now all see what I was talking about! =~_^=]
They aren't? Seriously? They all show for me (I wouldn't have posted the thread if they weren't). Uhm, let's see... They are all on my Dropbox and I used the rightclick -> Copy Image Address and pasted that in the Insert Image slot... any suggestions on what may have gone wrong so I can fix it?
You got it set to public, and whatever? IDK... maybe try hosting it elsewhere. Hell, even uploading it as an attachment and embedding it from there ought to do it.
As far as I know, it's set to Public, yes... In my other build threads, I just used the Steam Screenshot library, but the problem here is that I edited two pictures with censor bars, and edited pictures don't show in the Steam library, so I had to do it different for this. Hmmm... okay, I will try attaching them instead. They are too nice pictures to not be shown! Edit; Alright, how's that? Please tell me they show now =^_^=
Thanks Thanks! And no worries, you'll find something. I more or less created my own theme too; I've seen an original Felin village on a planet once, and it was a bit more Japanese/Oriental themed, with low, long thatched wood houses and such - as you can see I'm not following that but go with my own style =~_^=
Well! It has been quite a while since I have done anything in here, hasn't it? Yay for sickness and computer troubles! (oh those wonderful computer troubles...) In any way! I've finally gotten to get everything back together in a row and sorted out and started on a new build! And the attentive ones among you may notice that I switched the colors of Cpt. Moongazer around; instead of yellow with purple chest and tummy and purple hair, she is now purple with yellow chest and tummy and yellow hair. For... reasons. That you can't see because she is wearing those awesome robed for the pictures =~_^= And yes, it did mean I had to create a new character with the same name and transfer all the stuff in the possession of the original Hippie Moongazer to the new one, including the bookmarks of the planets where I have started building settlements. It took quite a while, but eventually I got it all done, and I could have the new Cpt. Moongazer start on the newest build for the first settlement. So! We've seen they have a really, really nice bath house there! But of course, they need to eat as well. So they needed a restaurant! And in true Felin fashion, it's classy! With... ...as you can see, gorgeous silver columns and arches, and lovely silver chandeliers. And also... ...a well-equipped kitchen with a trained and very talented chef! She makes sure the menus are always very much worth a visit to the restaurant! There are themes, of course. Monday is for easy dining, with a selection of soups and quick, easy meals. Tuesday is a day for stews, enriched with local vegetables and sometimes fruits. Wednesday is minced meat day. Or as it is known in Felin language; Rhowt Khil. Selections include the Opossum Blossom, The Chicken That Almost Crossed The Road, Oh Deer in a light headlight garnish, Rat-tatouille, the Badger Spladger and Hedgehog Hash. Thursday is Quick Meal day with choices of mouseburgers, hot dogs and Felin fries with a choice of condiments of mooyonnaise, catchup or mousetard. Friday is sushi and fish day. Be sure to try our Tentacle Kalamari! On Saturdays and Sundays special menus are offered by request, with possibilities of live hunting and bringing your own preys to be prepared. Be sure to stop by sometime! You'll love it! =~_^= And for the curious, again; Stuff used; http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/felins.68/ Felin race mod http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/munari-race.1655/ Munari race mod, for that gorgeous robe Hippie is wearing http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/hull-plating-blocks-more.2998/ Hull Plating Blocks mod. For those lovely columns, silver ones in this case http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/general-store.2683/ General Store mod. For the Mediterranean bricks and white stucco walls Avali small temple bricks, painted white Ornamental floors, also painted white Classy silver chandeliers. I have no idea where those came from Signs created at the Sign booth in the Outpost Silver versions of the regular candle and chalice And of course, /admin mode to unlock everything, create tons of all needed materials, not get killed constantly while building, and to spawn in some Felin villagers, a Felin village guard and a Felin chef (who is also a merchant so you can buy food from her)
NyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyanNyan Also, it looks pretty How long did it take you to make it all?
*chuckles* Sorry, we don't serve poptarts. But thanks! The restaurant took me a few hours to build, I had the base design in mind already when I started on it. I did have to start over once though, because my laptop shut itself off right in the middle of building, and it didn't save. The bath house took me a day or two (mostly due to the tedious digging out of the hill to make all the rooms and such, and filling up the random tunnels and caves I came across =~_^=). The boarding house took me about a day; those modular setups are relatively simple to build luckily, it's the furnishing and such that takes more time. The Black Cat laboratory took a couple of days, that one was quite a tricky one I have to admit, despite the modular setup of the underground chambers, hee.
Oh, it's similar to my own village then. When I created my Viera village, it took my about a week to get to the point where I stopped (I still had plenty of work to do on it). That includes many rebuilding of it, notably for the sky farm and the airship. You can see the images through the Viera Race discussion page if interested.
*nods* There was a sort of farm barn with a well on the planet which I took over, and I started building around that. So far I have the boarding house, the bathing house, the restaurant, a home or two and a small market place, plus the mine that was already on the planet and one or two campsites. I'm still planning on adding a large general store and a full butcher shop, as well as a hunting camp. No doubt I will be rebuilding or at least re-designing the regular houses quite a few times over, hee. Not to mention that I will be building similar settlements on lots of other planets as well =~_^=
I should probably finish the Viera village eventually. So far I have a mansion (my house!), a floating tower which act as a research station and docking bay for the airship, the airship (duh), a workshop, a sky farm, a market plaza surrounded by about four houses and a castle on the east side. On the west side is a large, multi-level forest ( Meaning that I added platforms with threes, so the forests extend upward as well as on both sides, I'm proud of that idea ), with a beach on the side of an artificial lake after it. Planed features were another forest after the castle, this on larger, leading to a steep mountain with a castlevania-like castle on top. The plan was to have it be a sort of dungeon. That's all on hold at the moment as I made a new character and she needs her military base! That and I'm making a desert oil station as a semi-request for antoher thread.
Ooo, I like that tiered forest idea! I've been planting trees and grass and flowers on elevated places, like the tops of tunnels I build (such as the one connecting the two kitty entrances to the bathhouse) and such things, but I may try my hand at making a tiered forest as well. And perhaps a somewhat tiered village with houses on elevated platforms, it would save a good deal of space =~_^=
Well, if it can help, here's a picture of the forest: It looks kinda tiny on the picture, but I used a mod to zoom out a lot to get the whole thing. The final version is also more compact, with less open spaces. In retrospect, I think a forest biome would have been best for this, the background adding to the feeling. It's very fun to navigate though! I suggest a grappling hook.
Ah yes, I prefer to build on Lush or Forest planets. The backgrounds are indeed very lovely, and once the stable update hits with the new background parallaxes, it will look even so much better! It looks real nice, too! I may see if I can do something similar, maybe incorporate some small dwellings in the spaces between the trees, I could use the new wood log cabin blocks to make it blend even better when those come out with the update =~_^=
The biggest problem with this sort of construct is that you can't put stuff in front of trees. That's why there are quite a few holes showing the background. On a forest planet though, that will not even be visible!
Indeed! And I found a little trick to get at least some stuff, like lamp posts, and stacked boxes, close to the trees, by putting down a sapling, and then putting down the items so the trees grow partly behind them. It does take some trial and error to figure out the collision boxes though (but then again with /admin mode and my sapling constructors, I can make lots of saplings so I can keep trying =~_^=)
Indeed! I use /admin a lot while building! For massive creations anyway. I prefer to keep my resources for personal stuff like armor and weapons. And /admin is especially useful at the moment since I lost my save >_<
Hee, I know, right? I use /admin all the time when I'm building, so I have all the stuff unlocked and I can create tons and tons of it at no cost. And it also helps that while I am building, the monsters on the planets attacking me don't actually harm me so I have enough time to stop building, turn around, pull out my enormously OP sword and one-hit them =~_^=
