Hi, Been away from this game for some time, but with the new trailer I'd love to get back into things. However I notice the unstable branch is due to go stable in January. So.. Can I play unstable today, and get the save copied over to stable once it goes stable? That is assuming no gamebreaking bugs gets discovered that is.
Unstable and Stable are both the same thing currently. Play nightly instead - though right now to launch nightly you can only do it from the starbound folder. Otherwise wait till the new Unstable releases. As for the unreleased unstable to stable - yes. Though it is unstable so there is always chances of crashes, character loss, and etc. If you want no issue game - wait for the new stable.
The unstable version showed in the video isent ingame yet. As mentioned in the "Winter update trailer is here!" post they are currently aiming for the unstable to update with the new content next week (It would be wise too consider it a ETA as in a estimate instead of a promise) and the stable in january "depending on how it goes". The current unstable version is very similiar to stable (they havent updated unstable or stable in a long time. The only version thats been frequently updated is nightly). If you want to try some of the content in the video your going to have to play nightly at this time.
