I think that there should be a movable spawn satellite to be able to move. It will have to be two parts: one being the satellite (far up in the sky) and one being a teleport pad (similar in design and purpose as the one in the spaceship). This came to me when I started building a ways out from spawn. It was turning night, so I did my quick break-a-tree-and-place-a-dirt-cube-there tactic. I made it taller, added little areas to shoot birds, and I was pretty comfy. Then, I noticed platforms in my inventory, threw those down with a campfire and Boom! a tiny shelter. After that, I was terribly bored so I decided to just make it bigger. After everything was done, I noticed that I made quite a large house without giving any thought to it being a day's walk away. Here's a picture: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=223421920 I now have a good house set up there for mining excursion, getting more wood from my tree farm and such, but I wish I could just teleport right down to it. The recipe would consist of 20 Iron Bars, 1250-2000 Pixels, 8 Unrefined Wood, maybe throw in something else or more pixels, but it should be simple so even tier 1 players can use it, even on the starting planet and such, and have it be basic enough materials that you can practically get on any planet you choose (not spoken of experience, have only beaten Penguin UFO twice [only summoned him twice] so I haven't gotten to higher tier planets).
I think using copper bars would be better balance-wise, because after you leave a certain tier, iron disappears, and it's already a hassle going back to make the spawn pads. The teleport pad could just be one pad, and we could assume that it establishes a link to your spaceship, so the satellite would not be needed. I guess they would have to find a way to make sure only one spaceship to planet teleporter is active at a time to make sure half your molecules don't get split across the planet. It's a good idea though and would be so much more helpful in choosing the right real estate to make my first real base on a planet!
That is true with the copper bars.. I have only gotten far enough to defeat the Penguin UFO with two characters (busy with school and other games) so I wouldn't know of the deficiency of iron with higher-tier planets. Might edit to add that to the OP.
