Most popular race

But I like Novakids....

 

If you paid attention to what the poll was about you'd know it's not about what you like, but rather what you think is the most popular race, what races you see people picking the most.

 

Apex and Human are the best ones in my opinion.

 

There's nothing boring about protecting humanity's future, brother.

 

Hate to sound like a broken record here but once again this poll is asking which race you think is the most popular, not which race do you like the most.

 

My personal favorite is the Floran, it's just so...out there?

Plus,I love their inspection comments.

The race I see the most played is Humans however.

 

Based on another thread I saw, Novakids seemed to be the most popular by a landslide. Guess I was wrong.

In any case, my favorite is probably the Florans, but after the wipe I'll be playing as a human for immersion and similar reasons. Just seems to click better.

 

What you think is your opinion and all opinions are personal even if it's your opinion of what you think is other peoples opinion... if it wasn't then you'd just be telling us the results.

 

Well the most popular race in my heart is humans. The naysayers who say that they're "bland" and "uninteresting" are deluding themselves.

 

Setting aside for the moment the fact that a collective assumption about each race's popularity is even less accurate than just straight-up asking people what their favorite race is, I'm happy that Humans are not winning, because it means people are actually paying attention to the lore.

The Florans are the most fleshed out (irony intended) in terms of characterization and motivation, so it would make sense that they're the current frontrunners among the roleplayers. Avians have a rather dry theocratic thing dragging them down, Humans are bland and uninteresting (nanny nanny poo poo, Noble Pigeon), Glitch are standard sci fi fare plus standard fantasy fare for a double-whammy of every RPG trope ever, Apex have too much Soviet and not enough Simian, Hylotl don't yet have their lore worked out completely (and will probably be canonically reviled by everybody else as self-important weeaboos when they do), and Novakids haven't been implemented.

 

Their solar system was completely taken over by what appears to be a parasitic old god from C'thulhu or worse, and you think the Humans are boring?

Intredasting.

 

the #starbound tag on tumblr definitely corroborates the floran popularity thing.
also, dear god. the NSFW-to-total-posts ratio there is... staggeringly high. (or at least, it was a few weeks ago.)

 

It's OK, it just makes it easy to tell whether someone is xenos scum or a filthy xenos sympathizer, and he unfortunately falls under one of those categories. Or both. Would it be worse if it was both? If so then it's both.

That doesn't make humans interesting. That makes giant space-tentacles interesting. Sadly, space-tentacles are not a playable race.

 

Wait, what? That's asinine.

The parasite is central to the human's plot. It claimed their world (if not destroyed it) and almost no questions are answered about it. Why is it there? How did it get there? How involved were the Humans with it before it became a hazard? Why did your character have one? Where will the humans go now that holy Terra is claimed? Do they intend to retake it? Can they retake it?

That's all interesting. Shame you can't see it.

He meant he wants people to tell him what they think is the most popular race NOT what race they think is best or like the best. In other words, what race do you see the majority of people favoring.

There's nothing about humans in that plot. You could replace humans with Keebler elves and lose none of the important parts. The only interesting thing about that story isn't the humans: It's the chthuloid eldritch horrors who kicked them out. The only reason you're really given to care about the fate of humans is assumed anthropocentrism.
