I'd say 3DS. It would be fun to see what they could do with two screens. I didn't vote Wii U because the game would most likely be alot more expensive, but hardly any better.

    Other -- computers, as is.

More systems = longer development time. >.<

I want to add that its already confirmed that Starbound will come to PS4. I think Vita was confirmed also. This is a LONG ways off though.

Isnt a steambox basically a Linux-PC? (With Linux currently being supported and developed for).
Or does Valve plan doing fancy stuff with the boxes hardware-wise.

Ya, Sony showed Starbound during their E3 presentation last year for PS4. Terraria already created a blueprint for the consoles so should be an easy port. I personally found it a little weird to play on consoles, mainly because I am so used to playing these types of games on PC. I was going to buy Terraria on PS3 just to have a mod-less version of the game, the thought "nah" I can't live without mods.

Speaking of, it's about time the consoles figure out how to bring the mod community in their fold. Everything is on PC hardware now and they could really miss out this generation if they continue to allow mods to remain exclusive to PC.

It is and Starbound already supports Linux. If Steam plays their cards right, they may be able to make Linux truly viable. I don't know what the install base is, but this is a big step in to taking a chunk from Microsoft.

It is linux, but it is made to be more consoley.

Modding games will never ever happen on consoles. I don't think this needs to be explained.

  9. Commodore 64, naturally.

Explain it anyway and remember they are now on PC hardware, so I have a hard time looking at it as impossible. Something along the lines of Steam Workshop.

I will be quoting a guy named Iceburner because I'm on my phone. He basically sums up my thoughts.

"It's effectively never going to happen. Modded content is, by definition, unrated and unregulated and yet the instant someone sticks something objectionable, game, or console-breaking in a game, the developer, publisher, and console manufacturer have to bear the public media shitstorm, regardless of their actual responsibility.

For game developers, making mods work on consoles is worth absolutely no one's time or money, as QA is impossible, and there is no quantifiable monetary benefit. Additionally the console-makers would certainly have the final say, which is always going to be "<expletives> NO."

The OP shouldn't have made other an option. The "superior elite master race of pc fanboys" has a strange tendency to avoid all console as if they were carriers of the Bubonic plague

Probably that WII thing with the touchpad. I enjoyed playing terarria on my xbox because I don't have a PC, and starbound would probably work just as well. Really all of them would prob be just fine. With that said I have no idea what 3/4 of the things in the poll are. Ouya? Is that a thing?

as terrible as xbone and ps4 are doing right now I don't see why they are not on this poll. If this was to be released on a non-portable console it would be either ps4, xbone, or WiiU. People aren't just gonna keep making games for the old consoles even if the new ones didn't get off to a good start.

With that said, I think this could be a hella good port for WiiU, they could make some good use of the tablet potentially for pc functions that would be hard on a controller. Otherwise I don't see why an xbone or ps4 couldn't be good, I mean terraria did it just fine and I have never heard people complaining about the controls on those ports.

Just the dumb ones, I have many memories of being polytheistic towards my PC, Snes, Ps1, and N64... But with new generations comes less gaming and more interest in money sucking and pandering to the lowest common denominator. Shit happens, people get bitter when they feel abandoned, etc. I'd rather just ignore consoles unless they are brought up, then have some cynical fun when they are. ;)

Indeed. Chucklefish does not need to develop Starbound for SteamOS as it is little more than Debian Linux with Steam's own quirks thrown on top of it. SteamOS has the entire Linux library available, with Windows titles available to be streamed. This is why SteamOS and Steam Boxes will fail for what Valve intends them for, though that's a conversation completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

Now, for Starbound on consoles... I don't see it playable to the standards Chucklefish has laid out for the PC version. However, the WiiU and 3DS would have the most playable versions if Starbound was ported to them, as the touchscreens would be invaluable for inventory management and ease of building. This comes from playing the 360 version of Terraria and as such I can honestly say: If you consider those controls even remotely close to playable in comparison to the PC version, you are a masochist.

That said, if Starbound was ported to any console other than the WiiU or 3DS, I wouldn't even consider playing it as I know all to well how much of a pain in the ass the controls would be and would rather stab myself in the foot than put up with them.

Meh, anything with a touchscreen would do, especially Nintendo stuff because of the styluses that come with them.

Why everyone hating on the console peasants. I love my PC gaming and I love my console gaming. Just because someone loves football doesn't mean basketball, baseball or any other sport is lesser and does not serve a purpose. I can't really hop on my single pc and play Minecraft with my 2 sons. So different strokes for different folks, this folk wants ALL THE STROKES! :cautious:
