1. Twin/Dual Worlds 2. Lifeless Planets 3. Timeless Planets 4. Planetary Rings 5. Gaseous Planets 6. Artificial Planets 7. Rogue Planets 8. Elemental Worlds 9. Improved Navigation System ____________________________________________________________________________________ Dual Planets/Stars Rarity - Uncommon Type - All except Gas Giants and Asteroid Fields Planets and Stars that orbit each other in a celestial dance exist fairly commonly within our view. I do believe these would add pleasing aesthetics to the game. Effects - Asteroid Fields are very common here, as planets are usually ripped apart due to the solar system having two stars. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Lifeless Planets Rarity - Very common Type - Asteroid Fields, Moons, Desert, Arid, Snow, Tundra, Gas Giants, and Stars. We have planetless Stars, Moonless Gas giants, so why not Lifeless Planets? The rarity of life is a joke at the moment, even asteroid fields have monsters for whatever's sake. Some worlds should be completely barren of trees and monsters, although this doesn't count for apex labs, etc. Effects - Eliminating all life forms on specific planets. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Timeless Planets Rarity - Rare Type - All except Gas Giants and Stars. Planets with no rotation. Half is eternally day, half is eternally night. Life on each side is significantly different. Effects - Gives planets a wider range of different Biomes/Life Diversity. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Ringed Worlds Rarity - Uncommon Type - All except Asteroid Fields and Stars Planets with a ring/rings of dust and rock. Not to add any bonus game play such as asteroid fields, but give the planet an aesthetic background. Effects - Planetary Aesthetics. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Gaseous Planets Rarity - Common Type - Gaseous Planet Planets that are covered in smog with limited visibility. Hard to find another player in multiplayer and monsters can easily ambush you. Effects - Limits visibility of the player on this specific Planet type. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Man-made Worlds Rarity - Very very rare Type - Artificial Planet Planets that was artificially created by a race, basically a planetarily large town/lab/castle/village in which one races resides on. Hostility is based on if the inhabitants are peaceful or military. Limited to the X sector only. Effects - World Dungeons/Towns ____________________________________________________________________________________ Celestial Orphans Rarity - Rare Type - All except for Asteroid Fields and Stars Planets that has lost its star due to being sling-shot or simply because their star had died. Navigation cannot visibly see them, but still can be found by hovering cursor around until detected. Rogue planets are eternally night. Rogue Gas Giants may contain multiple moons (As in body, not biome). Effects - Adds more celestial diversity. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Elemental Worlds Rarity - Mythical Type - Asteroid Large chunks of Asteroid (Approx 6000 blocks) that consist of one pure element, usually Iron, gold, silver, plat, etc. Diamond being the absolute rarest to find. Found only in Asteroid Fields. Effects - Jack pots. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Improved Navigation System Star Name search Planet count on selected Star Weather forecasting (I.e Meteor shower, Acid rain) Planets of the same solar system does not require "Jumping" and should take a shorter time. Star, Planet, Moon, renaming system after arriving. Searching for planets of specific Biome. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Thread additions 1. Please comment on whether or not suggestions (On hold) should be a part of this and explain what your ideas are (I don't care how vague).
Rainbow Worlds Rarity: Unique Type: Planet Rainbow dirt, sky filled with rainbows, rainbow colored creatures and biomes, rainbow water, rainbow rings, rainbow everything. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE RAINBOWS. Effects: Eye-bleedingly colorful rainbows everywhere, occasional uni-horned creatures and pots full of pixels. I'm not sorry. .... But no seriously, this is a great idea. +1 Support for more planet diversity 'cause ADVENTURE!
Truth is I'm missing some good ringed worlds, and also, planets with two opposite biomes (one in permanent daylight, other in permanent night) sounds great. +1 to this, sir.
Thanks for the support, added a thread additions section in op, (sorry, gotta keep it relatively real)
I like most of the ideas spread in the OP, but have my qualms of the gas one. Not with the idea, but for the fact we already have non-landable gas giants. With an appending to the gaseous idea, why not in maybe late game gain equipment that will let you visit those as well, similar to how you need ones for moon/asteroids now; well to at least efficiently survive and do what you do. However for those gas giants maybe you can't land till such equipment is unlocked, and it is then that you will be able to go. Of course a lot of imagination would have to go into what the place would look like for obvious reasons. These and regular gas planets would remind me of sky block in a way. or something similar to that. But I don't know it is just an idea to put out there to add...
It's cause gas giants, according to our knowledge, lacks a solid surface that we can land on. The only thing you'd find close to being solid from a gassy is its core in which temperatures, pressure, and other conditions makes it impossible to last a split second on.
Then what would be the point of a gaseous planet? wouldn't that be pretty much the same, but to a lesser extent? With no ground then why gaseous would even be an idea, or do I have that particular one not understanding what you mean?
I always thought finding a planet that's just full of npcs and no monsters would be cool. For example, Earth. There's tons of civilizations, but why do other planets not have a similar set up? *I know that in the SB universe, Earth is destroyed, just using it as an example. Perhaps even finding a once and a 1/1000 chance of finding the original mother planet(s) of the other races. And also, for an completely and unoriginal idea, why not have food planets. Full of sweets, sugar, milk, and honey. Everything that makes your teeth root. It would be a nice way to find rare seeds or potential animals to domesticate for its goodies.
A Gaseous Planet is a rocky planet with an abnormally thick atmosphere. A Gas giant is a planet in which is composed mainly of gasses, and with the existence of gravity the core is simply forced to form. That would fit into a specialized organism biome/planet, where 99% of the life is dedicated to surviving/exploiting a super phenomenon. Who says that they're not edible? Here's a random example lore pitch: Planet Maya Majoris 32-b1 is located in the Ouroboros constellation of the (X) Sector on Star system Maya Majoris. Its surface temperature is a relatively comfortable 26 degrees Celsius throughout most of the solar year, but plummets to -70 C when it is shadowed from its star by a twin planet coded Maya Majoris 32-b2. Because of the sudden fluctuation of temperature, the flora on the planet has evolved a unique way to cope with the cold. Throughout the year, the plants collect sugars and anti-freeze in their bulbous trunks in preparations for the deep freeze. The plants are highly prized by humans as the trunks are an excellent delicacy when made into tea or grated on any meals. The anti-freeze produced is also flammable, and burn for a very long time. Fuel companies used to harvest large amounts of the plant in order to extract the highly precious anti-freeze. In year 3K-15.03, it is thought that the plant has been completely eradicated from Maya Majoris 32-b1, so the planet was never purposely visited since. In year 3K-15.12, a cargo ship named Sky-Nest131 made an emergency landing on the planet because of a fuel leak due to an asteroid collision. They discovered that the plants once thought to be extinct has made a comeback on the planet and were able to use them to fuel their ship in order to go home. Because of the lethal temperature fluctuations, it seems that only the plants survived the great industrial eradication, as all other lifeforms depended on this one flora, they've since been extinct. So not impossible to imagine (But hard to put all that into game).
How about a previously ore-rich planet that was long ago mined out and is now a maze of caverns inhabited by something new?
