As someone who focuses almost entirely on farming with animals, I think it might make the game more engaging if the animals had more interactive options. At the moment you can't do much with them apart from feed them and click to make sure they're satisfied, and they're very easy to take care of, it makes them seem a little static. I kind of like the idea of making it more difficult to befriend them while at the same time adding more things to do, maybe the option to brush or wash them, play with and/or pet them to a greater extent, possible extra items like a small area of water for ducks to swim or mud areas for pigs, things to make them seem more alive and more rewarding to spend time with. I also feel like the pet has very little to do, its sweet to have but it doesn't add anything, if an actual feeding mechanic could be added and maybe extra furniture that is pet-centric that would be nice, and maybe something for them to actually do around the farm. I understand as well that there are people who aren't as interesting in that but still want to keep animals for products, so it has to still be possible to raise their friendship and get better products without the items, so maybe these things if added could just be optional fun or help speed up friendship a little faster. At the moment the animals are still enjoyable, their animation and design is lovely, but I feel there could just be more for people like me that love animal interaction.
Me too! I always pretend that the cows are all angry when I forgot to feed them or they happy when I let them out even though they were just 'moo-moo' as always, same go with my little chickens. Ranching is way more fun as @Micboydoodle said
