As i have come to realize that so far the only proper healing items are nano bandages.
Red stimpacks just don't heal properly since they don't scale with your max health and medkits are "bugged??" and don't do anything.
We need some better healing items, especially for max equipment where you have like 400+ health.
I have to wait 3 minutes using bandages just to heal up to max health and considering level 10 planets deal 63~150 damage per hit that almost occurs every 2~5 minutes.

Now i don't mind spending a bit of time and sure you can "dodge" attacks but try that against a group of heavily armed ranged humanoid opponents who can shoot indefinately "also very fast i might add" and each shot hits extremely hard.
Killing them is just a backbreaking job and their drops aren't even worth it.
I recently spent 1 hour and 12 minutes clearing a small UMC base and i got the best (as far as i know) craftable impurvium equipment.

Nano bandages don't actually scale with your max health either. I'm on full tier 10 armor and the red stimpacks are the only thing that work for me and even so they only heal like 2 or 3 squares of health and they cost 400 pixels each... Plus, sleeping in beds doesn't even work for me because I have to wait about 30 seconds sleeping in an impervium bed to regain 1 square of health. The game does need more healing items, at least for the last couple of tiers.

Right now healing items are based on a flat set amount.
We maybe able to do a more percentage based later.

Otherwise the only option is to create new items to heal on higher difficulties and ramp up higher tier beds

You're forgetting about healing foods. Ones with "mollyhealing3" effect, heal nearly half hp with imprevium armor.

    So far i know:
    Burger for humans
Oculemon Stew and Meat n' Marrow for florans
All ingridients can be farmed and chefs sell them much cheaper than stims. Except chily, it takes ages to grow.

I'd like to opt in for a "medic gun" or healing items that don't perish (Instead scale like a mobile bed that uses energy instead.) but that you can use to heal others in multiplayer or your pets. Just a thought, but yes, the healing of various items currently do not scale properly and almost all beds heal at the same rate.

    No they're not.

Charles Darwin approves. I believe that they should have more tiers like GCarlos33 said. But for now I think bandages should heal a little bit more health.

Usually people are relying on crafting food items to restore health. I know that Carrot Bread heals Avians for around 300 over 30 sec. Try to make whatever your last crafting food is on any kitchen table and eating it; chances are it'll be the best healing item for your race. That is, provided you didn't find a lot of other food recipes, then it may be between those and your starter cooking items.

Don't buy them from stimpack spawners, buy them from wizard houses for 175 each

For Avian, Curried Beakseed or whatever (Chilli + Beakseed) also gives a lot of regen, but yeah, chilli takes ages to grow.

Also, Battered Banana (Wheat + Bananas) is a great option for Apex.

mean n marrow is great, bonobo is one of the fastest growing crops, and just in the course of my adventuring i find enough alien meat to keep a decent supply. Meat chunks are made by cooking an already cooked alien meat for those who don't know.

As i forgot to mention the nano bandages are 50 pixels each 0_0.
For something that only heals 1 bar over 5 seconds that is pretty pricey given that mobs "on occasion" drop 200 pixels.
Somehow stimpacks don't heal as much for me as the person above said ( or it might but it just takes to long for me to notice it ).
When the average mob deals 60~150 damage of which some sniper mobs who hit 150 through a shield and around 250 normal it can be quite a pain healing up with just bandages/beds/food as they don't stack.
Sure food can be some form of healing but farming for produce just takes so much time, i agree with ( 1stxknight ) we kind of need a medical item.
I don't agree on the energy use though because that would basically render bandages obsolete, i think it should use bandages / stimpacks as a resource.
Either way we need better healing items :p.

Well if it's anything to anyone, progression in the game is really tied to about Tier 4. So it would make sense that we wouldn't see anything 'balanced' or 'working correctly' past that. So you have barely half that health at that point, making those healing items currently actually pretty decent. As for when you have 500 HP... that's like spamming Potion in an old FF game and expecting it to heal better. There's no "Hi-Potion" or "X-Potion" yet; but in time we'll see them come up.

nano bandages nee a huge boost IMO. I should have to use 10 of them to heal up. There should be an expensive item that fills up to 500 health slowly.

I still think red stims and the numerous foods which offer regen are fine. It's only, what, 3-4 red stims to regen 500 health?

If the 175 px cost of a red stim is a little prohibitive, and mass farming isn't your jam, you can mass purchase ingredients for food for only 5 pix each at most villages. So a full heal only costs... 40-50 px?

I heard something about carrot cakes being overpowered...
Oh well, I'm actually stuck with the nanowrap bandages since it seems that it's only item that can heal me properly.

The changes to how healing scaling works is something that came along with the patch that changed how combat was calculated in general. Before that you only ever had 100 health, and better gear and weapons just balanced out the hits you took. A balanced hit was about 20damage, so bandages were entirely viable throughout the entire game, as the damage taken en max health would average out.

Now however you can get a much larger healthpool, and hits to get bigger and bigger to balance them against the larger healthpool. As a result we now see a need for stronger healing items, and Chucklefish seems to understand this when they added nanobandages.

This is something that has simply not been balanced yet, but considering how many other things arent balanced or added, its difficult to balance it at this point anyway. But i fully expect better healing items in the future and probably stim crafting aswell. And a change to how food works in terms of boons, as currently they are both there for the hunger mechanic and the healing.

The most efficient way to heal is to just buy ingredients any time you find an village. Florians sell chillis so you can save yourself 2 hours of work assuming your chilli plants are not bugged like mine were. I spent a week looking for reefpod seeds and found most of the recipes in the game so i have plenty of options.

Something I've been hoping for in the game for multiplayer use is healing guns, so someone like me could take role as the medic and heal others. It would use energy, of course.

They are, but only get the healing affect for Avians. You'll need to find your race's equivalent.
