Not sure if it's because I've run into bad luck, but it'd be great if gas planets were given more unique hues than just that vanilla pale one I keep running into. Gas Planets are already not useful, so why make them an eyesore too? An aspect that would be appealing to setting a Homeworld around a moon in one would be the view it'd give from planetary orbit. Diversity of it looking like a Saturn, or even blue like a Neptune, would really make a stay there more captivating.
I agree, it would be very nice if gas giants came in many different colors, perhaps with variants on the pattern as well (including ones with rings?).
aside from JUST new images, use masking with a randomly generated flat color channel underneath, so that the color of them can always be completely unique.
Gas Giants should have some use eventually. Imagine them as a planet that can only be traversed with flying, resilient vehicles... sinking too deep would crush you, but the athmosphere of the gas giants could hold many secrets such as asteroid bases, floating gas mining complexes and scientist labs.
I'm sure they plan on making Jovian planets look a little more diverse later, but on the off chance they're not, I'd urge them to change their minds.
