Hey everyone, let's talk about biomes for a moment! It's one of the thing's I'm slightly concerned about, that there doesn't seem to be a variety of surface biomes on a single planet. As of now, it appears that there is only one. Now what I'd like to see for example is a single planet that contains a certain number of surface biomes (depending on the size of the planet) which range from forest, snow, ocean, desert etc. It'll certainly make exploring a single planet much more interesting and in my opinion give the planet a lot more personality. So what do you guys think?
Really? I wasn't too sure if that was the case but it's good to hear that there's planets with more than just one biomes.
Pretty sure it's not what you think though, there are 2 or 3 sub-biomes on a surface, but nothing that is similar to Earth in terms of diversity. Personally I like it that way. If every planet was like a Terraria world it would get boring dead fast. Perhaps there will be a super rare 'Earth-like' planet type in the future.
Yes definitely. Biome interaction is an important part of this kind of game. So certainly all forest is kindof boring. And as other threads have noted. we need some mini-diversity as well. Plains, plateaus, mountains, lakes, etc. even "forest" should have multiples. If later worlds do have more then one theme, well some earlier worlds should as well. many people might get turned off from the game if it takes so long to see some of that interesting interactions. This is particularly true on larger worlds, which ave no real point if its just the same thing over and over.
