I had some ideas for making pixels in starbound, other than quests and killing monsters, here are some ideas SMALL INCOME Jukebox: go back to the 70's with this groovy music player, npcs pay a few pixels and a different music plays in the backround. generates a small income, 25-50 pixels per day depending on the value of pixels and the number of npcs in the area. Photo booth: remember your good times with friends, 2-3 npcs will walk into it, pay, and afer a few seconds they'll walk out. this generates around 75 pixels per day depending on the value of pixels. you can also use it, you get a few friends and step inside, pay and get an item called Photo_1, 2, 3, and such, if you use it a picture of you and your friends shows up. food stand: yumm!, get all that greasy food everyone so loves. 100-200 pixels per day depending on the value of pixels. you can work it yourself or hire someone and receive a lesser amount of money, you can also buy food from there. Large Income Bus stop: you build a bus stop with staff and everything. this transports the npcs to a different place, you can use it to transport yourself. it generates about 500 pixels per day. Gun Shop: Hello there traveler! Ever find yourself in need of something to remove a pesky annoyance such as Gobgobblers or Jimwanglers, or perhaps you need something to prevent those darn kids from treading on your lawn. Well look no further Honest Jim's gun shop will sell you reliable weaponry at a fair price! Generates 200-800 Pixels a day depending on the danger level of the planet. You can work it yourself or hire someone and receive a lesser amount of money, you can also buy weapons from there. -idea by Bombersman Remember, this thread is constantly growing please post new ideas Thanks for reading!

Armor Shop: Hey Puny! Yeah you! You look like you'll make a good meal for those monsters out there. Why am I talking to you? I want to help you, why die out there without a chance of surviving because you were ill equipped to face the dangers of the world. At Joe's Scrapyard...err... armor shop you can protect yourself from taking an unfortunate spike to the chest. Generates 200-700 Pixels a day depending on the danger level of the planet. You can work it yourself or hire someone and receive a lesser amount of money, you can also buy armor from there. The armor and weapons that the player can buy here will either be not of the same quality as your items or cost a high amount of Pixels There can also be different ranks of vendors with the higher ranks having better items for sale and also generating more cash per day. Rank 1: Automated Vendor: 50-200 per day depending on the item type sold i.e. weapons cost more than food, lowest quality items, fully automated Rank 2: Stand: 100-300 per day depending on item type sold, needs a worker to function, Average quality items Rank 3: Shop: 200-800 per day depending on item type sold, needs a worker to function, Best quality items from a vendor
So it's kinda like making a corporation in-game? Sweet! I would make a large guild filled with elite crafters called... Master Merchant's Guild.

I like the idea of running your own businesses for money on the side (or full time?) but about being able to buy stuff from your own shop..if it's your shop, do you really need to 'buy' it from...well, yourself? Maybe a better way of saying it is that you use your connections as a gun store owner or whatever to order guns at a discount for yourself? I think that sounds better.
I don't think you should be the one working the shops; I think you just hire an NPC and pay them wages or something. You make less money, but it doesn't take away from the game as much as working a booth for "hours" would.
Hotel: You build a laaaaaaaaaaarge shelter and generate a massive income IF you keep it clean and such. If you hire employees then you need to pay them, but you can keep the place cleaner and/or leave and let someone in charge for a bit.
I don't think it's a good idea. After all, this game isn't Sims-city and is not about managing hotels and stuff like that. You should earn money by killing monsters, doing side-quests and selling items that you find but don't need. Not by spending the whole day looking after a shop. Perhaps some passive stuff like stocks or something might be OK, but nothing active.
Yea it is kinda "You need to work there or else no money" maybe something like this? Bounty Hunter: You kill a specific target, usually very hard to kill and surrounded by lackeys. This goes in large payment. Finder(?): You need to find a specific item (ore, plant, etc) and depending on the difficulty of finding it is the reward. Something easy like copper or a daybloom might be low payment, but finding adimantite or moonglow might be high payment (terraria items )
These jobs are half jobs half quests and don't hinder your exploration. On the opposite, it encourages exploring. This kind of stuff is much better(at least in my opinion). I'm all for that kind of jobs.
Its kinda a mix of a jobs and quests, but when you think about it, a quest is a job but with more action and less strict dedication. aka Quests are more fun
I would like to be able to run a business on the side of my questing and slaying and such...I think it should be considered.
