i don't hate the show itself, rather the culture and fandom populated by weird bronies that ruined it for me. I actually watched the show (no brony) and its not that bad....but a little strange that many people are appealing to it, who were never intended for it to appeal to.

So your telling me that you let other people decide what you do and don't like in life? Better hope they don't decide to trash something or someone you love.

    Someone make that, please.

You have to give the internet some credit on making the fanbase for the show explode (not to mention the influx of memes/etc. that happend).

A particularly stupid or unforgivable concept can be redeemed if the mod in question does something impressive with its' coding.

It's the really bad zero-effort stuff that needs to be bashed.

I can safely agree with you, as someone who has watched the show and actually likes it (and is silent for the most part), but understand where people are coming from if they don't like it. I just nod and be okay with it, unlike a number of other people who seem to be compelled to force it on whoever passes their way. I'm neutral towards the subject, mostly because I've seen both sides of the argument and how irredeemably stupid they both are in all actuality. Sure, the people who are basically psychotically obsessed with ponies are annoying, but they are not the majority, and if they were, the world would be a very different place, let me tell you.

Again, it isn't the concept behind a mod that makes one bad, it's the effort put into it. Some Terraria mods that were very popular made me cringe and groan at how lazy things were, with everything being just a recolored or reskinned and/or more powerful version of something that already existed rather than actually adding anything truly new, and that grinds my gears when I see stuff like that be well-received.

Heck, I'd approve of a sexual content/Rule 34 Starbound mod if it was sufficiently well designed. Emphasis on if.

Sounds like some of the mods that Minecraft had also.

Perhaps i stated that mistakenly: what I'm trying to is that I don't like MLP fans inserting ponies into any and everything they are able to. I appreciate their artistic skills and love of MLP, but I've seen so much of it that it's just stale, now. And I think it's weird that you have the choices of 6 different races, all with a deeper lore and origin, all destined for a place among the staars, and you mod in an anime equstrian. You could be an Apex, Hyotyl, Human, Avain, Glitch, or even Floran, and you are choosing a cartoon pony. :lod:

I think I said it before, but I'll say it again since it likely got buried. I dislike race mods when the race has no real justifiable lore to be in Starbound, like Faeries, Argonians (The other Daedric Planes are planets and the Daedra Prines are also those Planets, the Sun in a hole in reality when Magnus left and the stars are the holes where his disciples followed, so it makes no sense for any TES race to be in Starbound), Succubi of all things, etc. If the backstory and all is well thought-out or the reasons given are valid within their own univserse (Avali and the Borg respectively) then I'll be all for them.

I get where you are coming from. I find it annoying myself. But what I think what people do is make comparisons of everything.
There is not nothing you can't compare together. I find that people like to see crossovers imagine this. (Your favorite TV Show mixed with with your favorite video game.) While not a lot of people like this type of thing most people do. I can say that ponies being inserted into Video Games, Books, and TV Shows is perfectly okay. But what I can agree with is that ponies being spammed about in the non respective areas unless asked/given permission is somewhat annoying.

Its not a question of what's popular, both of these demographics have been around for years. I'm just a wee but baffled why someone has a tolerance for Furries, but would dis on MLP. Even though I partake in neither of these activities, my brain could not process the prioritization in any logical way.

    1. Don't give into any form of hate; That leads to the dark side.
    2. There's no logical reason that Bronies should be denied their community voice, their passion for the strange, or their need to be accepted even among their own.
    3. Its a little strange, sure. But so are lots of things. This is the internet, and you're likely to find 'the strange' in extraordinary abundance.
    4. Just because its outside of your scope, doesn't mean it shouldn't be socially outcast. That spot is reserved for child molesters, murderers, and people who talk in movie theaters.

You would also have to include any other fandom that inserts things from their fandom into other games also then (like Doctor Who, homestuck, game of thrones, halo, mass effect, elder scrolls, Mario, etc.).

I would also posit that with the amount of time and lore that has been invested in MLP and any of the other fandoms, the backstory of any of the Starbound alien races pales in comparison.

    Any kind of fandom mod.
I would never want to see any fandom incorporate a mod devoted to itself.
If you want it, keep it private. Ruin the game on your own time and don't show me.

Troll food, but.. here's something to fry your noodle over.

There is ambient fandom already inside the box. Look for it. When you see it....

Under that auspice, it kinda makes me wonder why anyone should bother with hate in the first place.

So? What's wrong with that? Girls are allowed to like guy things, why aren't guys allowed to like girl things? Why aren't older people allowed to like things intended for younger people? I'm 21, going on 22, and I still love a lot of the Disney movies that I grew up with. I still like some of the kid-friendly games that I grew up with, like Spyro on the PS1. And I've found some chick flicks to actually be quite amusing, despite they weren't directed at me.

it's called "target demographic". the list of shows that were perfectly fine (good ratings) but got canned for not hitting the "target demographic" is legion. after all these entertainment industry companies spend billions on focus groups and research to "perfectly appeal" to the "target demographic".

this applies even more when the entertainment in question is really just a half hour long toy commercial.

you're also young. i can remember before the nostalgia boom. it wasent nearly so acceptable to keep hold of "childhood things" 20 years ago. the questioning of gender roles was not tolerated nearly so well as it is now. the stigma associated with both of these categories will probably not go away until the last of my generation is dead.

on topic: i've been a mod aficionado for bethesda's games for a long time now. you cannot show me something i have not really seen before. i've come to be able to ignore the kinds of things i dont like.

I'm not completely certain, but you seem to be advocating the wide scale eradication of your generation as a method of making the world a happier, less judgmental, and freer place.

On Topic: I really really don't care what mods get made. I just won't play the ones I don't like.
