Mobs should be able to break blocks (spoilers)

    No matter what mob, be it a boss or a regular mob, should be able to break blocks to get to you. The material that it tries to break should be easier, harder to break but it should be possible.

    I trapped every boss inside a dirt cage and whacked it to death with a simple sword, without even getting a scratch. Even the Lvl 20 Robot Boss was far superior to me and would have on hit killed me while i only did a couple of points damage per hit on him.

    I now it is kind of an exploit but a very valid one what eliminates the purpose to put up a fight.

    Imho this should not be possible. If the game should in any way be somewhere logical than give mobs the possibility to break blocks. No matter what kind of block. This would need you to make your home more secure and gives you something to fight for if you encounter stronger foes.

    It makes the game more fun if a mob could burst through a door or dig through blocks to get to you. If you want a super protective home so that it isn't easily damaged/destroyed you could build your house out of the most durable material rather than wood or dirt.

    Because of this possibility i could easily farm the most dangerouse places with no problem, just trapping mobs in blocks, looting chests and getting the best equipment possible. This should be fixed.

    The time it takes to wall up mobs in order to kill them is only really worth it on the bosses. I don't think it's that big of an issue with regular mobs. However the next patch sounds like it will help resolve the problems that encouraged building a giant box to fight a boss in.

    Agreed. I spend just as much time building my home/base as I do exploring. I would hate to think any random monster can come and knock down all my walls.
    Honestly people need to restrain themselves. If you are afraid of ruining your own gameplay with exploits(boxing monsters), just don't do it.
    Personally I found more enjoyment beating the bosses normally, but I'm not going to condemn others that cheated since it's primarily a single player game.

    It's not about mobs just beating everything down but giving them the ability to come to you.

    As far as you don't pull any mob it won't damage anything so your houses are safe if your away or inside if nothing has noticed you.

    Don't give answers that really are impulsive without some kind of thought behind them.

    My sugestion would atleast make future traps or guards very usefull without them serving as death for some random mob passing by or as pure decoration mostly of the time.

    Really guys. If you can't deal with my suggestion you just don't get the "survival" part in such a game.

    My idea would also make player houses a bit more creative.

    What would an assault on your house do in the future if mobs couldn't break blocks? Virtualy useless in every way if you take this ability away from them.

    Only thing that shouldn't be breakable or shouldn't disapear are your stations/items/furniture. They should drop but stay there until picked up without despawn.

    No?
    Well go figure.
    Cant?
    Well then let me break the news, if you have never spent weeks on a solo building project, only to come back later to realise parts of your building got torn down by bomb throwing clowns then you dont know what is called heartbreak.

    Tiy has stated the full game will have an easily toggleable config file for people who wish for mobs to break blocks. All bosses will probably break blocks regardless.

    As for the issue of people building around mobs, I am sure that will be fixed but not by allowing them to break blocks. They'll simply make it so you can't attack through blocks (which is currently a bug).

    Bosses probably need to break blocks. Atleast the robot boss.

    Though this kind of suggestion always speaks less about the fact that block-based games let you do this and more to the fact that theres a larger problem at hand. Either with the enemies/bosses in general, block placing range, or overall difficulty. Which overall difficulty is being changed tommorow, so yeah.

    Somehow, I doubt anyone will ever turn said option on. I know I will never turn it on in my server, I've seen the random enemy spawn in our house before, I DON'T need them to have the power to randomly destroy a chest or the house when I try to extricate them from it, ESPECIALLY with the joke of a despawn time on items as is.

    It may be nothing compared to what I have done but to have this torn down by angry lynch mobs while I am away or around?

    If nothing else, make boss monsters able to have attacks that bypass blocks entirely. Terraria did this. Some bosses ignored all blocks and could just move through them as if they themselves were in the background, or at least had some attacks that bypassed blocks.

    In fact, certain non-boss monsters there could do that too, and I think they should in Starbound as well.

    Normal mobs should not be able to break blocks, however bosses should be able to do it imo.

    IMO they should only break blocks at certain speeds. Imagine if they broke titanium panels instantly... not even funny

    That penguin with rifle are already able to break blocks if they keep shooting at them.

    They dont do it instantly :D they basically cant break titanium that well.

    Yeah, no thanks. I actually enjoy building huge structures, and this sounds like a fucking nightmare to me.

    They can always make some blocks undestroyable by mobs/bosses.

    Or they can implemented some sort of feature that will prevent up from building up a mob/boss.

    Or simply make only bosses be able to break blocks.

    Either way this is tricky, because I really don't want log in to game and find out that my building project is totally destroyed, Or go to other worlds came back to my base and see total rampage on my home :(

    From other hand I too don't like the idea u can build up any mob and kill it without any risk. Ofcourse u can play it as u like , I for example do it the hard way, and use more than i like to my cloning devices :)
