Looking back, I think I remember that they had planned for you to fight bosses inside premade rooms of sorts. I wonder if the story quest will whisk you off to some sort of instance for the quest / battle where you'll fight the boss in Megaman style. It'll take time to dig up the link but I think that was the original plan.

I hope that's constrained to only one boss - that mechanic being that boss' gimmick.

There wasn't much info given outside of (I'm trying hard to remember here) walking into a room megaman style and fighting the boss. I don't remember if there was any info given after that but people speculated how respawning would work and whether it would be for dungeons or not.

It was quite a while ago. I think the devs were trying to avoid the ridiculous "Arenas" of Terraria and bosses that just pass through all terrain while trying to run into you.

I very much agree, all mobs should be able to break any block.

why? if mobs can destory any block we then need a way to stop mobs spawning near your buildings. If mobs can destroy my mansion is takes away any reason for me to want to build that mansion :/ I'll just live on my ship instead which is indestructible and never build a single building on the surface of the planets I visit.

Perhaps not for them to be able to break the whole block entirely instantly as soon as they attack.

Maybe something more along the line of them being able to break it after several hits or less depending on the monster itself.

There are some practical problems with them being able to destroy "every block"

For example you may end up having swiss cheese planets with mobs constantly blowing everything up, if its too easy.
So as NightofError said - a progressive destruction same as mining a block would have to be implemented.

Which gives you more then enough time to get out of your house and attack it.
There equally should be methods to protect your house via traps \ false floors \ and mounted turrets.

For the love of the pixel gods, don't activate a boss next to your house. That's just common sense.

i was referring to the statements above that were talking about bosses and not normal mobs. and i made a statement earlier about the normal mobs should not be able to break blocks
    only bosses and super mobs

I'd assume in the "break every block" scenario they wouldn't be actively trying to break every block in sight, rather only breaking them if there's not a free path to you after having already aggroed. In this scenario I'd also hope for different triggers for aggro rather than just proximity.

If you'd read, the original post may have said that, but I've agreed like 4 times that that's a dumb idea and only the elite and boss mobs should. Jesus Christ.

blocks should have an HP value, depending on what material they are (they probably already do.)

ALL attacks, from ALL entities, including players, monsters and bosses, should deal damage to blocks they hit. every single monster should be able to destroy average blocks with a couple hits at most.

Bosses, especially that robot, should be able to damage huge clusters of blocks at once, and to wipe all softer materials (sand/dirt/mud/etc) with a single hit.

Building a bunker to fight a boss SHOULD be a valid strategy. but it should be temporary protection, and you should need to invest some effort into making it out of strong materials. Titanium bricks should stand up to quite a few hits from anything.

Yes they would annihilate your house. You are dumb for summoning a huge monster right next to your home.
