What you have gathered is that we are not a single entity, we are a ton of different people with different desires, which often conflict with each other.

You're 100 percent right. And this is why mods exist.

And don't you go saying hurrdurrr he wants everyone to mod the game so the devs don't have to do anything about it hurr .

NO that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if you want something specific down to the core in this game the only way you are going to get what you Want is to mod because your wants aren't what everyone else wants.

    OR
instead of looking at everyone's separate ideas of how to address the issue, you look at what issues people have with the game, and come up with mechanics that address the conflicting needs. It is a balancing act, but it can be done. Yes, people want different things. But those different things are not always as incompatible as they look.
In this case, pretty much everyone agrees that bosses have issues. People have made many suggestions to address the issue. The solution to this is not "everyone should use mods to get what they want". The solution is to use smart design to get a baseline experience that accommodates a wide spread of people.

  4. no.

This game is not 100% combat focused.

I agree with you to a point.

For some it will be a great fix and for others it will be just poking the issue with a stick. You know? Like if the devs do a widespread search for commonalities and do a big fix/update some people will be like hey! This is great! And others will be like. Well one of my issues got solved but now I don't like this so I guess Its not too bad...

Players want too many specifics that's my point. There is no way you can cater specifics without stepping on peoples feet. Especially the gamers on steam that buy the game and are too afraid to post on forums.

Then stay in Alpha sector. If you want to advance, you need to fight bosses, period. Unless the game is going to advance you differently upon release. Making these fights something that isn't entirely laughable would be nice.

I'm going to be you for a second.

Then don't block bosses in to get away from the combat!!!

Their wasn't that a great suggestion. That's you bro.

Sure, you can't please 100% of people. That doesn't mean you give up.
People request specifics. Its just what people do. It doesn't necessarily mean that is the only thing that will make them happy. People tend to say "I want this perceived fix to my issue", but if you give them a different one they can be happy too.

Specifics to get a point across. One way of many ways to fix a possible problem. One wouldn't just say "bosses are weak, fix them" How are they weak, why are they weak, usually with a idea to fix them. It turns out they are not weak, just dumb as all the feedback is about mobility and path finding or the lack of it being trapped. Just because your idea isn't liked does not mean there isn't something to fix still.

I agree totally. But I didnt tell anyone to give up.

The devs should have a weekly poll for things to go into the next update. They need to design a vote page and put ideas for updates in it that they are not so sure about and let the people vote what they want. They can be anything from changes to mechanics to armor weapons rebalancing. Anything and we can all vote on what we want to be a priority instead of every single person having to post about it.

Terraria had a great idea of making most bosses being able to move through obstacles to reach the player. Eye of Cthulu, Eater/Destroyer of Worlds, etc can all ignore terrain to reach you. Why can't some of the bosses do the same? At least 2 of the current bosses fly, they're qualified to ignore terrain.

The other bosses that move on land could use a different tactic. When active, they automatically target lock on the player. If the player hides in/behind something for too long, the boss can teleport the player to them and do a melee attack to punish the player for hiding.

    From the starbound main page:
◦Story Missions: Eventually each tier will end with a story mission that ends with the bosses you see now.

That suggests the possibility that bosses will not be craftable, and will instead be fought on the boss's own terms. To take a step further, one could suppose that the boss would be the protection object in a dungeon that has a boss room specifically built for that boss fight. I think what we're looking at right now is not the intended circumstances that we are to fight the bosses in, and they are made trivial because of it.

More to support this theory from the starbound main page:
Ship Navigator Changes: Still not set in stone; but the new idea is to give a local map with fog of war. Instead of sector buttons you have to fly out of a sector and into the next one by uncovering more of the star map. The final sector would be infinite.

This suggests that there may indeed be a planet in the current sector you must travel to in order to fight the boss, since the early sectors will be significantly smaller than they are currently.

I suggest you just... Sit back, enjoy the ride, and complain when the game launches if the bosses are still trivial.

Mobs breaking blocks wont be a problem for your base if you build your base at the spawn where mobs don't travel unprovoked, except birds, but they dont need to be able to break blocks lol. Also this is a great feature to make use of guards and city defenses, maybe there could also be a feature in place where you could zone certain areas to make them unbreakable to mobs? Mobs breaking blocks isnt super important IMO but if not certain ones MUST be able to move/dig through blocks or teleport to you in some way.

You miss the point of a beta forum entirely. This is the place where we discuss the various things we want to have in the game. Sure not everyone will be happy with everything but at least we, the community, can debate and find some common ground to move the game in the right direction. If you cant comprehend this maybe you should go to a different forum

This forum was here way before beta my friend. This is not and was not a beta forum.

That may be, but the game IS currently in beta, so here we are posting suggestions..... It's all part of the process

Suggesting is one thing. Asking to completely change something is another.

We're "suggesting" they completely change the player mob/boss interaction because it is barely functional. Besides, the suggestions really aren't that drastic, just give the mobs and bosses the ability to 'get' to the player

Oh I wasn't talking about the UFO I was out of that discussion I think but Ive never actually had the UFO break my block. Just damage them and I'm using dirt ? Maybe just a coincidence or a bug?
