Mobs need to be able to destroy player made bunkers

This is going to make mobs way better, but from the sound of it, I can still wall these guys in, so not much added threat IMO

The slight difference is that Terraria had set monsters. You knew that when you saw a reaper, you'd know he could shoot through walls. I'm not sure how I feel about the potential of any monster being able to do that. hmm

Making a distinction between soft and hard blocks for bosses to break up would just mean people would bring harder materials. Bosses or their attacks phasing though solid objects seems a good solution. Like flying bosses can always travel the background.
Even some long cycle special abilities would add more to the bosses. Like the robot boss is just a run and spank and super easy to cheese. If it would teleport to, or teleport target to itself at phases give you time to move before attacking again would make boxes a horrible idea.

I'm fine with that. I'd love that, in fact...especially if it wasn't always just "I'm a boss so I will break your blocks." If they threw in some variance it wouldn't be as simple or as worth the effort as bringing harder materials. I'm also fine with mixing in phasing abilities.

I've suggested it long ago, but all bosses need are some type of zone attacks. For example:
    1. UFO could have a radiation wave attack that does low but continuous damage while the UFO is channelling it and passes through blocks and covers a wide and fairly deep area. This could force players to find a way out of the zone and/or interrupt the attack periodically throughout the fight.
    2. Other attacks could be like a super freeze ray that dramatically drops the temperature in an area forcing players to move etc.

Why don't we just have set planets for bosses on every tier. The planet is a flat plain and the boss can only be summoned on this planet. The ground below you cannot be altered. And no building is allowed on this planet

On the ship nav it will have a button that says. " boss realm" it will take you to the boss planet coordinate so you can land.

This is the only real way everyone will shut up about the boss blocking.

My opinion? If you don't want to do it then don't! You don't have to cheese the game its your choice. If you want a hard fight and to earn it do it!

Its just like life. Some people are born rich and cheese by it and some people work hard for what they earn.

Because that goes against the entire reason why you "craft" your bosses - so you aren't tied to a specific place. Seems like it was very much a deliberate dev move. I'm fine with some bosses having their own unique world, though. It definitely breaks up the method of summoning bosses which is always good.

An idiotic amount of energy. WHY? There's no good reason for it.

The whole "if you don't want to cheat, don't" thing is kinda stupid too. There's a balance between building a bunker and shooting a boss 300 times and not taking any damage and getting 2 shot out in the open by them. There's gotta be.

I think you craft the bosses because the devs want you to explore before you boss and this is the only way to do that without a ton of restriction. The bosses would still be craftable you just have to take them to the boss planet.

Anyone with any sense turns creeper block damage off in Minecraft.

    There's a reason for this.

About a dozen of them, really.

Because its a sandbox. not a concrete lined bin. Strategic dominance, if a very simple strategy is available, most will likely use it. And they will still complain its too easy when they choose to do it. Games sometimes need forced confrontation which makes them think, react, feel and overcome. Plenty of cheats available to those that want to cheese it. But there should be a bit more to it than making a box but not so much you aren't allowed to do anything, ex: making a arena for mobility.

How about bosses that can place blocks as well. They'll encase YOU the hardest material in the game and see how you feel about it.

I don't mind bosses (or even mini bosses) breaking blocks but normal mobs shouldn't EVER be able to. I happen to like and really look forward to the building aspect of the game (Especially once it's out of beta and my stuff isn't under threat of mass removal. Sticking to small stuff till then). It would be super sucky to go through the trouble of building my base/house only to have to fix it every three seconds because X mob decided he wants to eat the walls/furniture.

An easy way to fix this is to simply design bosses in such a way they ignore terrain collision entirely.

What I've gathered from responses is that you guys have no actual idea what you want. I'm done replying already because if you actually post a solution to a problem people think over it way too much and call it dumb because oh what? You've solved the issue in its entirety ? The thing we were complaining about? Well your wrong anyway because now were defending the topic.

Guys. You all want something way to specific and unless the devs code each and every one of you your own game your not going to like it.

Learn how to mod because from what I'm reading of the devs make a Change that addresses one persons wants someone else is going to hate it. And no theirs no median between ideas because you all want specifics.

Learn that a game is not always what YOU want. I hate a lot of things about minecraft but that doesn't mean its a bad game and a lot of people love everything about it. Nobody catered too my wants or things I'd think that game needs and you know what? I still love playing it.

    Bosses are broken.

UFO - Don't even need a bunker. Just place couple of dirt blocks to block the penguins walking around. Dodge UFO beam, attack, win.

ROBOT - The robot is stupid. Summoned it, ran, it fell in a hole. Shot it to death.

DRAGON - Just as stupid. Ran, fell off a 3 block cliff, Dragon's fire breath shoots out at an angle that can't even touch you.
