Mob Spawning Out of Control?

    So I was exploring a planet when I found a human dungeon. I poked around for a bit, killed a few people, then went back to the surface, sealed myself in, and went AFK for about two hours. When I came back, I found a massive amount of lag... and this: [​IMG]

    Does anyone know what the heck happened? Is this normal?

    I don't know exactly why this happened, but I the past I also encountered "cloned" npc in one of the human prison, at one time I entered a small room and 6 humanoid npc that looked exactly the same came at me and they all had the same name, if I killed 2 of them all the other said 2 time you killed "npcname". At an other time I was in a floran prison when I suddenly got shot by around 4 guns, I ran away, then when the npc had reached me there were 9 of them shooting at me with guns and the npc all looked the same.
    Maybe this can happen when you have a laggy game, but I can't be sure of that

    edit: I never seen something as serious as your screenshot so I don't know if that actually happened but I know that cloned npc can happen.

    edit2: that "keep calm" sign, so appropriate.

    I've had a similar thing in a cave once, except I hadn't been near any mobs for a while (digging in the walls) and the first cave I fell into, losing at least half of my health because of the drop I was accompanied by a legion of creepy bastards all rooting to tear my spine out. So I've seen it before, not sure why it happens at all.
