- Im french. Sorry if you find some error-stuff in there- Day one: i found this really nice swampy planet where everything grows faster. There are lots of healing herbs growing there that could be useful for the team, since we did not rebuild the healing machine yet. I noticed that there was a big population of hornets like creatures around the more dry zone. Day two: Today, our expedition was perturbed by the "hornets". We dont know where they are coming from, but it seems that there are more hornets here than yesterday. Day tree: This is crazy. This morning, we found this little nest-like grotto using the binoculars. Hornets are getting out of it. I think I know what's happening. We are going to explode this thing before our region gets infested too. Day four: The population of hornets grew even more dense during the night. We threw multiple incendiary rockets and bombs at the cave. In the middle of the afternoon, the hornets started to die and to act crazy. It was a good occasion to collect ressources! Ressources everywhere! Yay! Occasionally, we explored the cave, and were surprised to see a huge hornet monster and broken eggs everywhere. That's what was making the invasion of hornets! This thing must have been the... Hornet Queen... Yeah. We collected lots of rare ressources on the hornet creature. We are going to make weapons out of the darts. Why not using them as ammo? Anyways, we cured the planet from this invasion, and it was the best thing to do. Summary: Find a planet with a randomly generated nest-like structure surrounding an big and non mobile version of a mob. This mob " Queen " spawns around 20 mobs a day that don't despawn very quickly, creating a little army of mobs. Good: - Great and easy source of ressources - Adds a little more challenge to the game - Great source of minions for your mob army. Con: - That invasion is, well, pretty invasive. Having an army of poisonous Scorpodiles trying to kill you is quite dangerous. But because you love danger, you don't care about that, right? - If mobs have the ability to eat each-other, this might reduce biodiversity. Awesome.
Man this all sounds freakin awesome. I hope they put that in, would make it so much more interesting.
depends. I don't want players spawn a full nest monster which this would be bad for start of the game first day. So let say between medium planet lvl to insure the overkill will not come contact to player who like play solo. Now the real balance, we don't want player easy farming with in one day for 1 monster have like 1-20 pixiel. Parts yes, cash or pixiel no. Make sure the parts little tiny guys is not over flooding items. We don't want the spawning rate be very fast or other wise we could gather up research and get chainsaw out and stay one spot then chainsaw each babies come from the queen...it happen in terreria. Unless your making the little zerglings jump then the player won't have advantages. The queen should gain high hand advantages like acid spit or something slow down the players. To realized form playing terreria, from all the boss, they don't have some sort ability to cause status to go down insane, only few boss does but it is not really hard get yourself removed from that type status. So the queen should become challenge fight close up. ps. *edited* now I think I am finish.
@ ChaoticGamer- "depends. I don't want players spawn a full nest monster which this would be bad for start of the game first day. So let say between medium planet lvl to insure the overkill will not come contact to player who like play solo." Oh, yeah sure. Of course, they would only spawn on medium difficulty or after a while in the game if the conditions are absolutely PERFECT for the mob queen to spawn there ( Heat/Weather/Ressources ). They don't generally spawn too near from your spawn-point, don't worry. It's more like the kind of thing that you find while mining or exploring and that blockes your evolution in the game ( dig under it ? ). If you know what I mean. And for the cash thing, it's true that you can make a lot of cash out of it, but think about it, I don't think that the mob queen gives so much pocket money to her children. Yeah. So, or they give a really low amount of cash, or they don't give anything but body parts.
are you seeing the point where I meant to say the queen should have extra skill attack that will help her own kids or able attack directly players? It is one the basic sort of...
Sure! A Queen is a Queen, after all. Of course, they shouldn't be overpowered. They would just be like a bigger version than the mob that inflict more damage if they hit you. Mob queens would attack you only if you hit one of their hatchlings. In this case, it will have a " Maternity Instinct " buff that will give her more strenght. Mob queens can order mobs of the same species to attack you.
While I find the concept of a small hive/nest system to be great, I would hope that the occurrence and size of them would vary greatly. That way it would come to feel that certain creatures are more dominant in a region if they have a dense nest than the other creatures present. Another possibility of them would be interaction with other creatures. If the nest is dynamic in the sense of growth, it could fight to expand or be beaten into extinction. It'd be nice to have subtle changes occur over time around the local area. (If the concept got really depth, mutation and evolution is something to consider also.)
hmmm..maybe I could get the attention of one the developers people...hopefully they will read this.. *Off topic* I mean, its common to bugs to be like crazy hunters and ants. Ants are the most challenging type I should say because they aren't really that stupid unless you pick up one the dead ant and boil down their chemical and pour it onto alive ant which it have to be alive. Then that ant will be mistaken being dead...if anyone know what funny sciences stuff people been doing around these days *Troll laughter*. *ahem* Anyway, I think it would be best let the developers to choose it is good idea or not have nest monster like be the best idea to use into the game. I think it is.
