Mining Vehicles but not overpowered

    We should have more then just one way of mining things with tools in our hands. We should take this to another level.

    After allot of game progression a vehicle for mining can become accessible.
    even if it was more for tunnels then ore it would still allow allot of fun inside the planets.

    I would like to see some way to maintain theses mining vehicles too perhaps they need stamina to work

    it does not half to mine faster, Balance it how you wish but it should exist.

    I think a mining vehicle would be great. Just like everything else in this game I think it should not only be repairable but cost a lot of resources/pixels and come in multiple grades iron/copper/gold/platinum/diamond/etc...

    Maybe not stamina, perhaps it needs its own fuel source akin to the spaceship to function instead?
    I feel if it was stamina fuelled it'd have to be very low stamina cost or it'd get annoying having to hop out waiting for it to come back all the time.
    Perhaps you build the drill vehicle itself as a base which costs X amount of resources but then build separate drill bits made of different grade materials which have durability and combine onto the vehicle, it would save carrying around a dozen vehicles or resorting to deleting the old ones so you'd save resources on that and you wouldn't have to independently fuel each one unless it were to come from your stamina pool.

    Mining vechicles should be added to game, but they shouldn't be OP, and they should take alot of fuel to be balanced. Would be interesting to see that in-game ! :D

    I wouldn't mind it being powerful if it was late game or at least having end-game upgrades, when you're at the end of the road it's nice to have a bit of power to show off

    I think that this would be interesting, but I have seen something like this before.
    I will respond exactly how I did, other than one thing.
    We should give a smaller amount of things, like if you mine 10 copper ore, you should only get 6 or 7, and the same with cobblestone. This would make them not want to actually spam this since they wouldn't get as much materials, and some precious ores shall be lost.

    I think this would be a very good idea... for the endgame. See, in the end game, crafting will become VERY, VERY expensive. So my idea would be that these are in fact very powerful, so they did about as fast as you run on feet in starbound, and they are maybe three times larger than you. (depending on upgrades and race)

    Mining vehicles only become accesable when you enter X-sector (or maybe some new even harder sector) so that compared to yourself, they're not over powered. They need fuel, but it's not too hard to find; kind of like coal, but every now and then you'll need to hop out of your vehicle, maybe to mind something in the upper parts (in my opinion it shouldn't be able to dig up and down, unless you upgrade it, but that would be relatively expensive) of the cave, or maybe to open chests etc, so that the game doesn't lose it's purpose of exploring.

    I don't completely trust you on this (no offense meant), so please show evidence of them taking out all sectors. I wouldn't think they would entirely gut the game, and give it a whole new skeletal system.

    Why not have a fuel cost like the ship requires and then have coal and wood fuel the dozer to minimize the over use

    Nice idea. Instead of stamina or fuel, it could also be slower, but immediately making a tunnel 6 high.

    Also, I'd LOVE to see self-operational mining gear, like digging bots or an automated drill on wheels. That should take either fuel or be really slow.
    Think of the farming mechanics, but with tunneldigging. You set things, you go away, you come back.

    Would help when you trying to mine every single block on a planet to feed you space empire. ;)

    I like this idea. Can you explain more about how it would work? Does it mine at the same speed through all materials? How big is this? When would this become accessible?

    I wouldn't worry too much about it being over powered as long as it's pretty late game.

    Far deep in the game hard to get and it should dig slow and fast depending on the upgrades you give it. Plus after we get our ships fully upgraded we should be able to unlock a slot for the mining vehicle. A place on the ship where you can see it stored. I think it should be a little smaller then the Mech this way it can reduce trolling. but im up for other peoples ideas on this lets take this idea and work it out together.

    It would also be nice if they came with a forge and refinery built in for the higher tiers so you can smelt/refine while mining.

    I love these ideas.. I would enjoy any mining enhancements.. If we can't get quarry like machines, at least give us mining mechs etc..

    and yes yes yes for refineries, smelteries (automated ones), any complex machine setups.. would make this game so much more interesting and rewarding to get to those tiers etc

    These vehicles shouldn't mine a lot faster than you would normally, but they should cover more space when mining, like 6*6 or something.
    At least double the pickaxe.

    The idea to balance this by having the "digger" destroy or have a chance to destroy the ores and blocks it mines is a good one. I like it!
    These would be awesome to see in the later stages of the game, even more if you would be able to personalize them in some way.
    Paint job or something like that.
