ForceBall: Like basketball, somewhat, except you use forceguns, modified and regulated for "Safe use."

Probably best played with 4 vs 4, each player has a gravity gun that pulls objects towards it with the right click, and pushes objects away from it with the left click. Each side has to "defend" a goal, that the other team is trying to shoot the ball into.

Scoring: Getting the ball through the hoop. Whether shooting it through, or taking it through. If you take it through manually, you score an extra point. (1 for a shot, 3 for taking it through.) Sounds simple, right? Wrong. If you take it through, you die, and will respawn in 10 seconds. (Changeable in options) This gives the other team an opportunity to answer back.

When a score is made, the ball will respawn in 3 seconds, in the middle of the map.

[New Stuff is in THIS COLOR.]

    Mechanics: (Attracting = Sucking/pulling and expelling = pushing/blowing basically.)

Passing: Simply expel the ball at your teammate while they are attracting it. They will take possession
Assist: Expel the ball at your teammate who will then expel it too, causing it to launch farther and faster.
Stealing: If a player is carrying the ball, you can steal it by attracting the ball. This causes the ball to go into your possession. (They can steal it back, however, so one has to use a bit of trickery.) (Often triggers a tug-o-war event.)
Shoving: The ball isn't the only thing you can expel. Get close enough to a player, and you can shove them back a bit of a distance with an expel blast. (Holding down the expel button strengthens the force.)
Blast-Jump: Aim downwards at a ground (Or the wall) and release the expel button. You'll launch away from the wall/floor. Helps more if you jump and do it.
Tug-O-War: If two opposing players are both trying to attract the ball, it'll go to the closest person. However, it can start a tug-o-war event where the ball goes to whoever is clicking the attract button the fastest. (However, their teammates can help by either attracting the ball, or shoving the opponent away, thus making teamwork quite valuable.)
Teamwork: You can shove your teammates when they have the ball. Use this to create devious strategies.
Vacuum: By holding down the attract button, you can create a area of gravity that can slow players down, and alter the trajectory of the ball in motion.
Tactics: If you're holding the ball, you can still expel players/Blast-jump, you just have to keep the attract key held down.
Knocking the Ball Loose: A fully charged expulsion blast will knock the ball loose from the opposing player. This can be good and bad. Stealing is sometimes better.

That's just some of the things you can do.

Just to mix it up, there are several modifiers that can drastically alter how the game is played.

Low Gravity Mode: Does exactly what it says.
Multi-ball mode: Instead of just one ball, there's 3 to worry about. Higher score limit.
Danger Room: Mobs and mines to change dynamic flow of the game.
NO Gravity room: In order to move around, use your Forcegun. Inertia is dangerous.
Overclocked: Those safety regulations put on the forceguns? No more. Your forceguns are 5 times as powerful.
Dodgeball: 5 balls, no goals. The balls will explode if held too long.
The Bomb: It's a bomb. It'll blow up every minute or so, severely damaging those in the radius. Play fast, play well.
One Hoop: Instead of a goal on each side, there's only one goal in the middle. High powered launchers on the sides, to hurl you through the air with.
Brutal Ball: In addition to your forcegun, you can find weapons scattered around to destroy your opponents with.
Moving Goals: All goals move. Timing and strategy is everything.
Wranglers: The ball is a none-too-friendly alien who must be beat down a bit before he hides in his shell, thus behaving as a regular ball. Be warned, he will not be happy when he comes out of it.
Pinballers: In addition to normal platforms, your "Arena" will contain a few platforms that, when a player/ball hits them, they'll gain energy instead of losing energy. Have fun bouncing around.
Sticky Stuff: The opposite of Bumper platforms. When a ball hits this platform, it will stop dead in its tracks. (If hanging upside down from this platform, gravity will eventually free the ball.) Players will move half as fast on these platforms.

Like most things in the game, this sport can be, in a sense, randomly generated (If set in the options)

Certain things will be prone to random, if this is set.

    1) Horizontal Goals vs Vertical Goals.
    2) Modifiers used
    3) Position, size, and number of platforms. (With a limitation on how close they can be to the goals, to avoid a platform intersecting the goal, or way too close to one) This will likely be symmetrical via a vertical divider, so no team has an unfair unlucky platform spawn
    4) Size of goals, maybe?

This is very much a work in progress, and I'm going to organize it and add to it every time I feel like it.

I'll work on elaborating this idea as more of it comes to me. I started formulating this idea while replying to This

Hmm. Would this be made into an artificial planet, or room upon your spaceship? And you'd most definitely need to collect the supplies to create said room/planet. I love the idea, though. Keep up the good work!

    Sokina Heart of Gold

It'd probably be on one of the PVP asteroids, or whatever. Since I'm pressing for it to be an official sport, it should be kind of enabled for everyone on the get-go. (My Asteroid Belt location where minigames and structured PVP can be held idea)

    Space0tters! ! likes this.
  4. TheAwesomeAvian

    TheAwesomeAvian Sandwich Man

This is a good idea, but does the forcegun shoot a beam of force or a wall of force

  5. Mianso

    Mianso Black Hole Surfer

    No jetpacks allowed right?

Well thought out Sokina! But I'd add 4 or 5 special poses/moves for when you score a goal which could just be items in the other open slots because as I read it there would be only one item used to play the game itself! :) Those poses/moves could make scoring goals alot more satisfying, especially since with this concept in a 2D environment, it should take some effort to score a goal. Nevertheless, I really like your idea and would love to see it implemented.

  7. Shock

    Shock Spaceman Spiff

Awesome idea. Maybe you'd want to establish some rules, to add on with. Or if there's no rules to be explained, carry on.

  8. Jorden619

    Jorden619 Big Damn Hero

Awesome idea. I would like to have the ball as an item I can take anywhere. I can see myself throwing that ball around on many an alien planet.

  9. FrozenFlame

    FrozenFlame Giant Laser Beams

I love this! It just adds casual culture to the game. (Imagine: Hey guys, that was a good raid! Now, we've found this biosteel alloy in one of the crates. We can settle this with a game of Forceball"

  10. XRiZUX

    XRiZUX Spaceman Spiff

I like it a lot, want to see this in the game. :DD

Oh and a question, can you shoot the ball into your opponent and make the opponent fall over, and then do a Blast-Jump onto the opponent's chest to get close to the "hoop" and wait for your teammate to pass it over?

    NEED MOAR MINIGAMES!

Also id like to point out that this is very similar to another game that i cant remember. I know it was from InstantAction (which has been closed a long time ago) , I think it was called Rocketball or something like that. Instead of forceguns to shove the players, they used rockets to disrupt them and lose grip of the ball. It was very fun game to play.

    EDIT
Heres the info of IA and the game, also its called Rokkitball. :D
