Meteorites in my house D:

Since meteorites were falling on the planet of my base, I started building downwards to use the land to shield me from the meteorites.

Later I noticed that meteorites were spawning in the middle of the dirt and sometimes even inside my house blowing it from the inside.

Is this a bug? or a funny mechanic working as intended? :S

They want you... they desire you... and they WILL find you...

Its only a matter of time before they develop....

Yes, the meteor system if screwed up real bad. My guess is that it's going to be fixed sometime soon.

All weather effects can happen underground if you are still in the top layer that allows liquids to drain. Any large enough area will trick the system into thinking there is open sky there.

So It is a mechanic working funny. I guess for now I just need to go deeper. Thx :3

If you cannot see a roof the weather effects can spawn, even holding control and moving the view up to see a roof out of default view is enough to stop the weather, I noticed this while building a canopy on an acid rain planet. The moment I would drop out of view of the canopy acid rain would start melting me, moving the view up would stop it instantly.

You could also get a mod that disable meteors if they are too much an annoyance.

Man, I have yet to see any sort of meteors in this game! I would like to experience the absolute terror others do and immediately regret it after taking a meteor to the face.

I'm sorry man, I'm not laughing at you. That is hilarious though. F'n meteors want you bad.

I like the feeling of defending my house with dirt and being squished by a meteorite in the process. It's part of this game's charm.

But ninja meteorites sneaking into my house and blowing up my kitchen or the wooden toilet I put in the middle of the living room kinda ruins the inmersion and the idea that I'm safe from them inside of my underground house :b.

I got from a planet where a giant meteor blew my whole house with me inside to this planet where random meteorites blow my house from within. The sneakiness of these rocks will never ceases to amaze me.

Seriously. I hope they find a way to make meteors less stress inducing. I don't want them completely removed, I think most people just want a safe place to build and know how to find it.

Alpha sectors shouldn't have meteors, or meteors should at the very least do less damage there only.

Just put up an umbrella, that'll keep the weather out for sure :p

Is there any particular reason you have to build there? Couldn't you just find another planet to build on?

Meteors are very polite guests, because they always knock before entering. Unfortunately, they knock out the walls, and then they come in. Hopefully they visit less often in the future.

It matters where your house is.
if you were in the "Surface" biome" the meteor spawns 30 units above your location. - but couldn't spawn there, so it found the nearest "available" spawn location. and well.... this happened.

If you were in the underground biome the meteors do not spawn.

i know your pain. On my starting planet i jumped into the air and a meteor appeared mid jump. I avoided the main thing but the explosion killed me T.T

I already moved to another planet. Well... more like I have all my stuff in my ship while looking for a safe place to build. I was kind of resilent to moving because I just have a golden pickaxe and it took me a lot of time to dismantle all the laboratory materials I used. Like 4k blocks of lab blocks (my underground base) + 2k wood blocks from the house (the facade) + like 8 chests full of furniture from both places :/.

Got 3 planets with meteors straight after packing, the last one I'm on is just rainning. Does having normal rain guarantees that I wont have rocks raining on me later on?
