    How I discovered the bug

I put a 30 block layer of obsidian on the roof of my base to protect from meteor showers but recently had one glitch/spawn right through all of it and crash right into my treasure room dropping 200+ items everywhere and I only saved some before all the items on the ground disappeared after around 2 minutes.

    Additional Notes

I don't know if the meteor spawned inside my base or if it glitched through the roof but this is a very big problem.
I was also surprised how very quickly the items vanished.

    Suggested Fixes

If there needs to be meteors, there needs to be a way to defend against them besides placing more blocks down! Create an anti-meteor device like an impact force shield generator that protects a planet or an area from them that is fool proof. Aliens and humans can fly ships to other galaxies and have no problem protecting their ships but can't protect their house from meteors?

    -AND/OR-

Meteor showers only happen on planets with asteroid fields in the same system.

    -AND/OR-

Planets with a certain atmosphere will cause meteors to burn up before crashing.

    -AND/OR-

Planets with a large gravitational pull will protect smaller nearby planets from meteor showers.

    -AND/OR-

Meteors spawn only above the atmosphere and never will spawn below blocks.

    -AND/OR-

Create meteor proof containers and blocks.

    -AND/OR-

Remove meteors. They can't stay the way they are.

    -AND/OR-

Any combination of the above suggestions.

"They can't stay the way they are."

That was already announced, at least twice by Tiy on his Twitter account, once in a blog post here, and I'm certain it has been said more than once in forum posts. It may even have been in a newsletter.

    Thanks for responding RvLesh.

I already knew there was a lot of talk about problems with meteor showers, but didn't find any forum posts specifically talking about their ability to pass/spawn through blocks. I didn't realize they could do this before and passing through blocks is a lot more dangerous than frequent meteor showers.

As for Twitter and the newsletter, I have not been following either, but I think if I can't find a post talking about it specifically than it's not unreasonable for me to post it here.

I wouldn't call your response rude, but I don't think your response was very constructive. You might as well have said, "I think you should make sure everything in your post has never been mentioned before posting" and I politely disagree with your opinion. In addition to the one line you quoted, I included all of my own suggestions for improving meteor showers and provided another example of a glitch they are trying to fix. It should be OK to reiterate a small portion of what has been said.

Please let me know if I misinterpreted your response, and if so, I apologize.

The issue is simply that there are a huge number of duplicate posts on the board, so it becomes more and more difficult to sort through them. That's the primary reason I've almost completely given up on trying to read and respond to posts - I can read through a hundred before finding one that hasn't been answered dozens of times.

The meteors are a known-bad section of the game, was my point.

Regarding the glitch you experienced; I know from my current base which is one a planet that experiences acid rain, if I have a very tall roof over my base that is out of view and I just have the background sky instead of an actual wall, the game interprets that area to be outdoors and it will effectively rain inside my base until I do something to get that roof back in view. If you have a similar set-up, walling up the background may fix your problem.
