    Meteor shower? Seriously?

Hey, so because of todays patch, I started a new character on Starbound and played for a while. I went to the gamma sector and found a nice planet to have my home in, and after using 3-6 hours making a house there, a f**king meteor shower started raining down on my house, and it blew up literally everything I had built over many hours. I lost two npcs and some ore too because it blew up chests. That's my experience with the new meteor shower, and I hate it..

Question : What's your thoughts on meteor showers? Should it be able to destroy player-placed items? Any ideas on how this could be less frustrating?

From what I have been hearing higher tier blocks are more resistant to the meteors so there is that. Personally I like them being able to destroy somethings and who knows down the line we may get something that will stop the damage all together(Like blocks that can't be destroyed by them or hell maybe even some forcefield like thing to put around your base.

Your colored text makes my eyes bleed. The fact that your white starting letters don't spell anything besides gibberish disappoints me.

Otherwise, I feel that now is the time to invest in subterranean home improvement.

Ah. I didn't think about that.. it's pretty logic that my house didn't resist much damage with the fact that I used dirt bricks to build my house with.. I'm still not a fan of buildings randomly getting destroyed though.

Damn that would be cool, like a blue shield around the building.

Seriously I bet it must be really infuriating to have your builds griefed by the games new meteor/asteroid mechanics, they'll hopefully tweak it so it doesnt happen as often.

P.S.: v. ANGRY Koala I have a feeling they knew what was coming.

I wish I'd have some meteorite showers :(

I've searched a dozen worlds looking for some extreme weather to compete against with my new base and all I've found is some piddling acid rain. I really hope they DON'T reign in the meteorite showers, instead simply give us defensive options to protect our facilities.

Don't nerf features; instead introduce ways to counter them - it's a good ethos for all game development

Did you even read through the other posts you linked? They had slightly different points you know.. and I'm not really making a clutter on the forum as threads eventually die and never get read again..

What the hell were you thinking when you chose dark blue for your text? I had to highlight it to read it?

And what the hell was Chucklefish thinking when they made meteor showers damage blocks? I've lost all motivation to build anything on planets now. It needs to be fixed asap.

Well, they aren't supposed to happen on every planet. At least, that's what it sounded like they intended during the stream they were making them.

As to having them damage blocks... why shouldn't they? What's the point otherwise? Oh, look, a different sprite for rain, how very interesting?

That is awesome. Can't wait to find a planet of my own with meteor showers and try to build a base that can withstand them!

Meteor showers and other environmental hazards is probably the coolest thing they've added to the game since the beta started and I love it. The only problem is that they didn't add in ways to counter these hazards completely. I'd be extremely upset if they make meteor showers stop destroying blocks, that's not the way to fix it. All they need to do is add a craftable defense item like a field generator that protects from meteors in a few hundred block radius or something like that. I've started work on a mod to accomplish something similar.
