I gave you a like, but i have to say it took all my willpower. I have great disdain for the phrase "/thread"

Like any one statement short of "This thread is now Locked" could ever really encompass every possible opinion on the matter.

But you see, what I'm saying is that they don't fit in the game.
That was my whole point. It's why the thread exists.
I'm not saying I dislike them, I'm saying they don't fit.
And not liking what you like does not make me have bad taste. Sorry for not be overjoyed that chucklefish has bless us with a kawaii poo enemy, guess that means I have bad taste.

I think the problem is that you not liking it comes out more in your posts than it not fitting.

Stating "it doesn't fit" does not convince me it doesn't fit. I saw the image of maple story vs starbound. That also doesn't convince me it doesn't fit because maple story and starbound are different games with different scopes. Starbounds scope entails a lot of both silly and serious subject matter.

Is it the only enemy with kawaii cheek bubbles? Is what why it doesn't fit? and if it IS the only enemy with kawaii cheek bubbles... doesn't that make it sort of an ironic off-the-wall joke at those types of enemies or models in general? (i'm thinking of porings from RO, they had the same thing right?)

If it's poking fun at some of the extreme-silly enemies from other games or other subject matter, then what is the HARM???

But yeah, back to the point... prove to me it doesn't 'fit' with something substantial, not just restating the words "it doesn't fit" over and over again like some kind of mantra.

 

Is it just me, or does the Poo and prison dungeon seem like a suitable marriage.

Edit: I know it's called Po... but I say it as I see it. And it is a turd with eyes!

 

I really don't mind it to be honest,Im sure I will have lots of fun killing this crap with friends...unless they explode and get on my clothes...now that will be bad.
This in my opinion just adds to the fun factor of the game,having a horde of smiling po trying to kill you and your friends is hilarious.

Anyone thought about Molly or George trolling us? Maybe there will be no Po. In fact, i would have no problem with Po. I mean, everyone knows that shit, everyones taking a dumb. Maybe it just feels lonely being outcasted. It is literally dropped out from society. Have a soul, dudes and dudettes. Have mercy.

Well we are just arguing about opinions at this point which means it won't go anywhere.
If you don't think they fit, kudos to you. I respect your decision.
I think they fit and I will really enjoy fighting them in sewers.
There will be monsters that people like and monsters that people don't like. I personally am excited that there will be a far variety of monsters to slay unlike most games where its mostly goblins, trolls, and zombies.
You can only speculate as what tone the game has. I am sure the dev's know 10x more than you do about the game.
These fella's must be to silly/cute for the game too.


I think this game just may be too 'silly' for you.

This thread exists because some one does not like the monster and tone is up to the devs not us.

That's really your opinion but every thing can be funny depending on who you are. You may not find it funny but your humor is not that of every human on earth.

Just because something is funny, say George Carlin, master of it..
Doesn't mean his tone, or southparks tone with smiling poop.. fits a game like this.

Juvenile is funny, in a base way. It isn't lighthearted though. Lets face it, its dirty which is what makes it funny!
That doesn't fit the tone presented so far though at all.

 

Well tone is up to devs not me and you so basically it does fit the tone because they put it in.

 

Carlin is a master of dirty humor. Dirty humor is funny to some people. Dirty humor is not the only kind of humor. I don't understand your point. Starbound can have dirty humor, clean humor, childish humor, chicken humor... its all-encompassing

I was just sitting here, eating supper, waiting for my Civilization 5 game to load (huge TSL map, Industrial age... takes a while), and reading this thread. Suddently, I had a rationalization idea about Poo.

So. We have some sort of symbiont/parasite with several distinct life stages — like insects have. Probably goes like this: egg, intestinal larva, chrysalis, mature poo. Basically, this creature spends its' childhood in intestines of warm-blooded animals, including humans (and yeah, excluding glitch, florans and definitely novakids). After it matures, it goes through chrysalis stage and then it is pooped out.

Mature (and pooped out) creatures can continue their existance however they want, probably their larva stages are not very interesting/important to them, and they definitely try to find a mate to mate and create more eggs. Eggs are dropped into water, not all water is cleared enough, and more often than not some eggs are ingested by warm-blooded animals.

It doesn't matter what larva does inside intestines. It can be evil parasite which basically eats its' host from inside, it can coexist neutrally or it can even help its' host somehow. I prefer neutral or beneficial coexistence in this case, just works better for story, because it then makes Poo something other than Alien in the Alien movie.

But the most interesting thing is what happens during chrysalis. Larva is small and defenseless, protected from dangers of outside world by whatever mechanisms host employs to protect himself. Also it is warm and wet inside intestines, they do like it. So, these creatures evolved somewhat like Earth's caddisfly (trichoptera). When it's time to grow up and move out, they build their own cocoon from surrounding fecal matter, just like caddisflies, but they are using own silk and small surrounding debris, and their mature stage continues to use that cocoon, somewhat changed, with eyes et cetera. Their "cute" appearance is an adaptation which helps them to not be destroyed too often.

So it is not a blob of living fecal matter. It's a living creature which resides inside protective layer of fecal matter.

That and poo bursting out of someone's chest cavity probably wouldn't be the best.
