[Merged] The Po Discussion

I have to admit that it does remind me of MapleStory.

 

I don't believe any of us are claiming that it does. We'd really rather it isn't in the game, hence the reaction. If you were here when they announced Starter pets as the 1 million dollar stretch you'd have seen a REAL shitstorm. (I don't know if you were or not, I'm assuming you weren't)

 

It was ridiculous that that whole conversation even existed. Having pets, while not worth 1mil more or less actually would have made sense as the first stretch goal and then the nova kids be the last would have been a better idea. but its all the same in the end, the same features would have been put into the game regardless of the order they were placed.

 

who cares... its an awesome and funny idea... everything in starbound is unrealistic so wth are you talking about and in what other game you will see poo monsters and all kinds of small but awesome ideas?

 

I argued against them because I wanted a different stretch goal more than anything. It really didn't feel like a $1 million stretch goal and I was immensely disappointed to say the least. What made it even worse for me was when Molly came in and basically said 'Regardless of the direction this poll went in we were going to implement starter pets anyway.'

 

Based on how active this thread is either speaks volumes about the over reactive knee jerk responses of this community or the fact that the community has run out of things to talk about until Starbound releases.

 

I really don't think you would. I think you'd see it, maybe smile, and then eventually grow tired of seeing them every time you enter a sewer and even grow to hate them. Much like the slimes of Terraria.

 

No I wasn't. And I am just shocked of how people react to little things like that. I mean it seems like a normal thing on the internet but this is a quite friendly community so I'd expect a more calm reaction. However it sounds like people are losing their minds because of "The Po", which is kind of ironical and funny because they literally lose their minds because of shit!

 

What aggression? Since when it disliking a certain aspect of the game being overly aggressive or trollish?

I guess we're just supposed to think that everything created by the developers are the greatest things of all time and we aren't allowed to criticize them at all.

I kind of hope the developers put something incredibly stupid in a daily update, such as a boss that has a random chance of instantly killing everyone of the planet and then destroying every block on the planet just to see how many people say "OMG THIS IS PERFECT THE DEVELOPERS KNOW HOW MUCH LUCK BASED MECHANICS ENHANCE THE GAME YOU'RE JUST BEING ANNOYING AND OVERLY AGGRESSIVE BLAH BLAH BLAH" in response to people telling it like it is (come on, you know at least three people would think that a boss like that is good design simply because of who it was made by).

Hmm... I'm not a fan of this monster at all.

We could still have a slime-monster made of chemical waste, excrements, etc. I don't have an issue with that; in fact, it'd work very well for plenty of areas.

This just looks incredibly silly, however. My experience would be hindered if I were exploring the sewer system of an abandoned NPP or something and came across a "cute" poo-shaped monster that happens to be blushing.

 

To be honest I was certain that people would be complaining along the lines of "OH NOES, a sewer level"

Im pretty sure that a certain game called Terraria had a boss called ''The Wall of Flesh''...Sounds pretty dark to me.

 

Hey man, while I agree its a stupid monster, Japanese things are cool.

 

The same game also had colorful hopping jellies, unicorns and zombies in top-hats.

 

Yeah, but it hade skeletons and when they killed you it said that they ripped you apart or that your innards became outards.

So why is the thread mainly flooded with distaste for the monster, while the poll suggests other-wise?
